recently, an acquaintance of mine (purportedly) committed suicide. looking at the huge outpouring of grief from his friends, one cannot help but wonder if suicide is just an ultimate expression of narcissism, where one values one's own escape from one's own problems over the mental well-being of those that care about oneself.

The titular Mozart plays the protagonist in Amadeus, but really, the movie was about his rival, Salieri. The narrative takes the form of a confession by the elderly Salieri to a priest about his purported murder of Mozart. it's disillusioning when your friends are appearing on the news for all the wrong reasons. sometimes i wonder if we all have our own skeletons in the closet and the ones that appear on the news are those that are caught and are crucified for the purpose of perpetuating the myth of normalcy in a warped world.
