Clearly, this is a mistake because everyone knows the answer to "THE QUESTION" is 42.
LOl. This.
Agree pretty much on all DW points (watched Merlin for the first season but could never get into it). I've never really liked Eleven but he actually did look at the bigger picture here that seemed to be absent for many other outings. Although the "all of time is at stake" plot point is beginning to get a tad stale.
I was kind of fond of Eleven by the end of series 5, but this series my opinion of him seems to change with every episodes.
Yeah, I wish they'd stop with the 'all of time is at stake' plot point as well. A nice, simple and timeloop-free 'the universe is in danger' plotline would be appreaciated.
I kind of expected the question to be "Doctor Who?", but I'm not sure how I feel about it... Moffat better have a seriously epic answer planned! (Maybe that's his seed for the 50th anniversary?)
The all-time-at-once 'verse was kind of amazing. I would have thought they might go the dystopian route, but it actually looked like a ton of fun.
I'm not sure about the wedding... maybe a timeline thing, since River made it seem like the only choices that ended up as viable timelines were marriage or murder? Or a character thing-- he needed her to cooperate, so he compromised? I mean, in the revived timeline it didn't even happen, so he doesn't need to consider himself bound in any way (although I'm sure River considers him bound).
Basically, I enjoyed the episode, and am happily anticipating a huge influx of fic revolving around Rose getting homework help from a bow-tied stranger, The Doctor trying to "blend in" at Jack's stag parties, and AU!Amy/AU!Rory being badass and adorable (with bonus Melody-angst from Amy).
Yeah, it probably was to get her to cooperate - he marries her so she will trust him, or something. Still, that is not a good reason for marrying someone. And I am pretty sure River sees herself as his wife, even if it didn't actually happen (and she technically married the robot, hee).
Hi, fellow Scandinavian here. Hope you don't mind my intrusion. :) Would you like to discuss fandom in Scandinavian or do you have Scandinavian fanworks to share? Perhaps you'd consider joining us over at scandafandom?
We are many Scandinavians here on LJ, but we almost all post and comment in English. I'm contacting you to try to gather us in a strong and lively Scandinavian speaking milieu, where we can get beta readers for fanfics in our mother tongue, squee over Scandinavian events, fanworks and cons (not just stare in envy at our American friends' posts from AWA...) and so on. You can talk about all kinds of fandom related topics at scandafandom, as long as you post in a Scandinavian language. See you there?
(How I found you: I searched for Scandinavian journals with recent updates. I then had a look at your profile and journal, saw that you were active in fandom and thought that you would possibly be open for an invitation. I hope I wasn't totally amiss. :)
