I'd forgotten how much I dislike being on active duty. There's a reason I'm a historian, not a technician.

I was assigned to keep an eye on the power pull from the impulse controls, and I swear I looked down at my PADD for one second and Mr. Scott gets on my case about it.

At least I don't have to do that again for another week or so.

What part of history do you specialize in?

Classical Earth history. My focus is historical leaders, most especially emperors, explorers, and pioneers, and how they relate to space exploration, although of course the scope of human history is much broader.

That's quite the task to take on. I have a few old history books. I'm not sure if any of them would have anything you'd be interested in or have any information you wouldn't already know, but I wouldn't mind sharing them.

Oh, I couldn't possibly ask you to share them! I mean... Well, if you really don't mind letting me borrow them...

I promise I'll take good care of them. Do you know when they were printed? I would love to get my hands on something printed before the 1900s, but of course it's so rare to find anything intact, especially before the Eugenics Wars.

I'm just glad I don't have to go back until next week. Maybe he'll have forgotten about it by then...

I haven't interacted with him too much, but of what I know, he doesn't hold grudges. If anything, he'll probably come find you and apologize.

You really think so? I mean, maybe he's different outside the engine room, but he's always seemed a little uptight.
