I now have a new favorite Marvel movie. J watched the kids today so I could go see the new Captain America movie. He saw it on travel this last time since he had time to kill in the evenings and didn't want to spend every evening with his family. So incredibly awesome. Some things I saw coming, some (like who the Winter Soldier was) I knew about ( Read more... )

I've really been quite surprised at how well Disney has done with the Marvel universe. I really wish they had full control, but X-Men and Spiderman were going on before Disney bought Marvel. I knew they had the money and the creativity to a great job, but wasn't sure if things would be half-assed. Though there is a part of me that wishes the movies were more kid-friendly (PG instead of PG-13), but I know the comic book world is pretty violent.

It really has me on high hopes for Star Wars, especially since the new version of Star Tours is so amazing. If they put the same care into those movies (which have a much bigger fan base than Marvel did), I'll be a very happy camper. But honestly, as long as Lucas isn't anywhere near writing dialog or directing dialog heavy scenes, we'll be good. :)

The Hydra reveal was huge and definitely would have made the movie less impactful if I had known. J is purely a movie Marvel person so I'm sure he had no idea about Bucky going into it. I actually ran across that when I was looking for something to spend my $5 digital comic credit and saw a Winter Soldier comic collection that was on sale for less than that.

Ought to be interesting to see how the dismantling of SHIELD works into the next Avengers movie and Agents of SHIELD show. Heck, I think there is another Marvel show coming out this fall. Can't blame Disney for riding this one.

Next time we go to Disneyland I need to get the kids to see Thor. We've already done the Iron Man virtual armor thing a few times and met Captain America. It's a shame that licensing prevents Disney from doing anything with the Marvel characters in Florida (because Universal has the Spiderman ride there).

Larva is very into Marvel at the moment, and she is introducing me to every Marvel movie there is out there. I have never read a graphic novel, so I only know the cinematic universe, but Larva elaborates on the comic book background behind the story.

I loved Winter soldier as well. I have to say that I thougt the first Captain America film to be amusing and nothing more, but Winter Soldier was something else entirely.
