Makes you wonder if that one mocking scientist was fired or something.

That could very well be the case. Or the scientist disappeared from Luceti.

Yeah, but even so it vaguely makes you wish he hadn't. A scientist who goes out of his way to mock people would eventually end up dropping intel by accident, most likely.

Indeed. Considering the approximate time the scientist stopped mocking residents before experiments, it isn't surprising he disappeared from view; the Malnosso went on alert.

The villagers here were unconscious for forty-eight hours straight?

Not unconscious, but barely aware of what happened in that time. We only received vague explanations from Jacob, who summarized it as, "Oops, this sometimes happens. It's nothing important." [And yet that's two whole days missing.]

[Daisuke's only read the stuff in bold letters since the rest was so long and packed with words, but a bit of it pings him anyway.]

I met that old man! He was real nice -- said he wanted to be called Catherine.

Were you able to discuss anything with him beyond his name preference?

I heard something about there being a Malawhatchacallit base up in the mountains somewhere, but that nobody's been able to get inside it. You know if that's just a rumor, or is there really anything up there?

There is an abandoned building up in the mountains that was thought to be an observation point, but it hasn't been inhabited for quite awhile. None of the Organization's other facilities are visible to us, and we have been told that one of them exists far above Luceti.

So...somebody has been inside it?

I believe one or two residents may have lived in it for awhile. Some prefer their isolation.

[...So confused. But what she was able to pick up before half of this went over her head:]

They read the journals?

They do. It is logged and kept track of using their systems.

Oh. Why would they be interested in that?

..."We have not yet had an experiment this month...." Is that normal?

[voice then!] chikaidestroyer December 17 2009, 21:42:29 UTC
It isn't normal, no. But we've seen a gradual change in the amount of experiments done within the last half year or so; last year, we were subjected to many more experiments.
