My name is Albert Silverberg, and I am a resident transmitting over a secure system taken from the Organization and modified to specifically filter transmissions to Luceti residents' journals. I have confirmed with John ( Read more... )

As ever, Albert? Mucho appreciated.

[ her voice is a bit tired. it is always disheartened to have the facts once again out on parade.

but she's still grateful. ]

Of course, Buffy. [He can hear that tiredness, but he does not ask about it.]

...Are you free to meet up? To talk shop?

[ she's made a little nervous by that failtastically filtered conversation budding between jack and albert. she doesn't hack beyond knowing that it's there, though.

she doesn't need to know. ]

Certainly.

[And an unhackable filter appears.]

[Filtered]

Just tell me where.

Sir, thank you writing up all this information. It's all very enlightening. [Even if somewhat disheartening to realize this has been going on for far much longer than she thought.]

I would also like to use this opportunity to propose the idea of a town meeting to the village. Especially with the start of a new cycle approaching, I feel it is important to come together - as a village - to discuss things. Share information on what's been attempted before as far as escape attempts go, new ideas on how to make life in the village easier for everyone, get any thoughts and concerns out, basically an open and friendly opportunity for people to say what's on their mind and discuss any ideas.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

This General, Silverberg: what know you of him? Can he be reasoned with? Persuaded?

Not much is known, unfortunately. Some residents were able to speak with him during the initial invasion two years ago, with some stepping away without engaging him in battle at all.

But he did not seem at all interested in conversing during the underwater draft, if the speed with which he dispatched his enemies was any indication.

[There is an uncharacteristically weary sigh at that.]

Aye; I saw him on that draft. Saw him murder Derek. There wouldn't have been any reasoning with him. If you were to negotiate with him, though, Silverberg---what tactics would you use?

[He frowns at the idea. He had raised a brow at the original line of questioning, and seeing how Jack continues pursuing it...]

He is a man of strong ideals, given how long he has maintained his rank and how long he has been fighting this war. Negotiating with him for even the slightest reprieve would be difficult, with very little chance of working with our resources. A stall may work by appealing to human emotion, but negotiating... I suppose it depends on what one tries to reason with him about.

There does not seem like much that would pique his interest short of our complete surrender and acceptance of their form of mercy. [Their only known bargaining chip was the trophy Buffy had taken, and even that may not mean much depending on what was asked for.]

...Kinda sounds like they aren't that "organized."

Tell me about it! Their lack of organization is almost astounding.

Yeah, I'm surprised. That's just skew.

They're not too impressive. It isn't unusual for something big to happen here and later be told it was the result of a mistake.

This is all very interesting, sir, especially to one newly come to this place. Thank you for the information.
