8:00 Halloween Night consultmybooks October 31 2010, 03:01:10 UTC
[Eventually, once it becomes a choice between risking the tent or another night outside, Giles risks the tent. And he knows it it the instant he passes through the protective bubble - it's like a fog lifting from his mind, and suddenly everything around him is real and safe again. Giles does not like parties, or crowds, or noise, but he also doesn't like being psychologically tortured and so the ball, in his mind, is definitely the lesser of two evils.

The first thing he does is find a quiet corner and, with his newfound clarify of mind, attempt to properly heal the knife wounds in his arm. That takes about fifteen minutes. And then Giles grabs a seat on the fountain and...sits. His policy of "walk and it can't get you" comes back to bite him once he's no longer jumping at his own shadow, and he is very tired. But he will also be keeping a worried eye out for his friends, seeing how they've fared this week.]

[Not one to be put off by his "costume," Alf is freely moving about within the tent when he sees Giles. Funny, he hadn't pegged the man as the type to attend gatherings . . . and just sitting there probably proves that by a bit. Shrugging away the thought, he heads to the fountain.]

I admit, I'm rather surprised to see you here, Giles.

[Giles smiles tiredly] Didn't exactly have much of a choice, after all.

I imagine it's been a rough week for you as much as anyone else. [With a wry smile, he watches the blood punch flowing from the fountain.] Is that . . . ?

[Flatly] It's not.

Just very bad, very tasteless punch.

[Ah.] That's too bad.

Well, it's something.

[Giles raises his eyebrows] Too bad that it's not blood, or too bad that it's tasteless?

[His eyes widen, and he splutters,] T-that it's tasteless! . . . It's good that it's not blood.

Ah, of course. Thought you meant that. Sorry, I'm just a bit...paranoid, I suppose you could say.

[Ha, oh, haha, he's feeling a little warm from embarrassment. The boxes aren't helping.]

It's all right. I thought that was the case. Vampires, is it?

Vampires, yes. [He hates them, oh yes he does.] The Organization have the most twisted sense of irony I've ever encountered.

[He tips his head to the side, slightly.] How so?

There's a vampire from my world that dresses rather like this.

[A pause. He gets it now.] That explains a lot.

I hate unknowable captors with senses of humor.

The Organization's sense of "humor" has been rather . . . cutting, that much is for certain.
