First Battle

[Time: 12:00pm

From somewhere on the mountain side, there's a of power proceeded by a shaft of light that shoots up straight towards the sky. When the wind dies and the dust settles, all that's left is a figure standing in the center of a rocky outcropping.

In his hand, is a large, sword-like weapon resting with it's tip against the ground.]

[Ven ... had been gone for awhile. Terra had been bothered upon seeing Ven's door and window wide open, had spent several minutes outside of the house restlessly waiting for Ven to show up again. He could go out early if he wanted to, and he was safe by himself, right?

But that open window really bothered him. The fact that Ven wasn't answering when he called was also strange. So it wasn't long before both he and Aqua began scouring the village for their friend, searching for almost an hour.]

[Aqua was trying to ignore that bad feeling she had, but she was still getting more worried by the minute. Even after searching for this long there is still no sign of Ven anywhere in the village. Something was wrong, very wrong. Ven wouldn't leave the village, he knew that it was too dangerous right now. But... where else would he have gone?

They were going to have to start searching the forest somehow. Eventually Aqua tries to get Terra's attention.]

Terra.

[Frederic had been on one of his daily walks in the forest, something was bothering at him and yet he couldn't tell what it was. Eventually he had to take a break, so he sat down for a moment under a tree to think about a few things and try to figure out why exactly he couldn't shake this feeling of worry.]

[He averts his eyes to Aqua, though he is distinctly distracted.]

This would be easier if our Gliders worked. [It seems to hint that he understands that they need to broaden their search. The forest was large, and the rest of this place... He was still too new to have explored all of it, and he knew that.]

We'll find him. [Though it really would be a lot easier if their Gliders did work. With those they'd be able to search from the air at least.

However, the sudden pillar of light that shoots up in the distance is easily seen and is a pretty good indication on where they should look. From Frederic's point he should easily be able to see it as well. Aqua gasps a little and her heart sinks, whatever it was it didn't look like a good sign.]

[Hearing the shouting and seeing the sudden pillar of light gets him out of his thoughts, he stands up quickly and runs towards the pillar of light to see what's going on.]

[The light in the distance is so sudden, splitting through Terra's worry and leaving him speechless for a moment. But he does hear Aqua.

Ven?

He doesn't know how Aqua knows, but ... he knew he could trust her judgment. Especially when Ven was involved.

He's off and running without a word, through the forest and in the direction of the pillar. In the distance, there's an unfamiliar man staring up at the sky as well.]

[As soon as Terra takes off, Aqua is following right behind him. She might be wrong, but she pretty sure that's Frederic up ahead of them.

Either way, is seems they're all heading for the same thing. Once they finally get there, there will be a figure standing where the light had come from.]

['Ventus' is still standing there, head bowed. He doesn't show the slightest movement, as they approach.]

[Frederic arrives at the same time as Terra and Aqua also seeing Ventus and looks a bit concerned.]

...Is that Ventus?

[He turns his head slightly at Frederic's voice, but only briefly.]

It's...

[Of course it's Ven. It has to be Ven. Terra doesn't know what happened, but his friend isn't moving. He doesn't even think to summon his Keyblade as he begins stepping closer.]

Ven? Ven, are you all right?

[Aqua stops, the weapon 'Ven' is holding quickly catches Aqua's attention. That's... there's no forgetting that thing. Then that means-]

Terra, wait!

[refinedmaestro]

[Frederic watches Terra walk closer to "Ventus", but quickly turns to Aqua.]

Aqua, is that Ventus? Or...someone else?

[So, his deception hadn't worked. Too bad.

Suddenly, the blond head looks up. But instead of Ventus' blue eyes looking back at them, these are solid gold. Vanitas doesn't waste a second of time before he lunges. And unfortunately, Terra is person closest to him, and by default becomes his first target. The weapon in his hand (though it's easily three times the size of a normal keyblade) comes up and forward like it weighs nothing, spearing straight at him.]

What?!

[Terra's attention is torn in different directions -- Aqua's shouted warning and the sudden movement from Ven. For a split-second, he's shocked by those terrible eyes staring out from his friend's face--and then his Keyblade is in hand, trying to block that huge weapon coming at him.

Impossibly strong. That's not Ven.]
