... Most of the buildings are... e-eviscerated. As in, there is nothing inside them. I p-presume this simulation was external-only... Perhaps I could code something like this...
[It's certainly way too much like home, enough to make him ache.]

/My luck has been varying. Some buildings were empty or otherwise locked and impossible to get in. Other stores were as I remembered them being. You never know, maybe you'll find a building you can go into./

The s-simulated worlds here vary tremendously in t-terms of what they behave like. Some places are, er, qu-quite detailed... I have seen the interior of Terran buildings appear before, also in extreme d-detail, so perhaps it is... s-simply spontaneous generation.
[He pauses at the foot of a particular building - it's an enormous one, one of the tallest in the area.]
This is, er, o-one of the database centres of Linden. It, and other b-buildings like it, are dedicated to storing the collective data of... Terra as a w-whole. Information is preserved with redundant backups and... m-multiple channels of connection via the Internet.
[While he's prattling on, there might be some odd movement somewhere behind him. Mun cannot think of anything interesting right now...]

But even as she pays attention to Robert, she remains aware of her surroundings. At the first sign of movement, Ginia quickly reaches for her gun and draws it, pushing Robert aside as a lizalfos rushes at them.]

Simulated sword or not, he doesn't like the look of the implement, and lets loose a note of fear even as Ginia pushes him aside.]
A biped reptilian - ?!
[He almost doesn't want to harm the lizalfos - after all, it's triggering all his don't-injure-sapients drives, even if it isn't real - it acts so painfully realistically, after all.]

He scuttles back and out of the way, realizing that pinning himself against the simulated buildings is the absolute worst thing he could do, especially in the case of a quick, powerful enemy with a puncture-wound weapon.
... This is really reminding him of Don. Which just makes him even less comfortable about trying to injure it, even knowing it's a simulation.]

Her knife goes back into its sheath and walks over to pick up her gun, making sure everything is secured before also holstering it.]
/Are you okay?/ [She signs over to Robert, concern on her face.]

That was a non-lethal blow. It's... reassuring, a little.]
I... a-apologize. As a Terran, I am... v-very unused to violence. It is nearly nonexistent on my w-world, and... [Well, it's too long a story to summarize quickly, so instead he just kind of drops his gaze uncomfortably.]

/Nothing to be ashamed of. As long as you're okay that's all that matters./

... But violence isn't entirely gone from Terra. It's just not anywhere near as visible. However, Robert has never really had it in his life before Luceti, and he's still clearly sheltered - even though he's significantly better than he was six months prior.]
Th-thank you for... for protecting me. [Even though I didn't do anything to warrant it.]
... It appears that, wh-whatever sort of being that was, the simulation was... by itself. N-Nothing else is visible in the... immediate vicinity.

[Ginia looks around the area, confirming Robert's assessment.] /I agree, though that's no guarantee something else won't show up or appear. Perhaps we should move on?/

... The p-problem is, there is no way to... e-effectively gauge exactly where these simulations are going to be...

Ginia thinks for a little bit before coming to a decision.]
/I don't have anything planned for the day. Need a guard while you're looking around?/

[... You know, it does make more sense than stumbling around like an idiot unprotected.]
I... I would be m-much obliged. But, er, f-forgive me for not... t-telling you my name, earlier...
... I am Professor Robert A-Alexander Hastings. [There is a touch of almost mantra-ism about the way he says that. But he looks a little embarrassed for not saying it before, especially now when this person protected him.]
