Medli isn't used to being around forests, or the snow, so she sets out one morning to take the chance to properly explore them. It's good exercise anyway, she tells herself, and remaining cooped up in her new lodgings would be bad for the mind and spirit! Besides, she picked up a nice gray parka and pair of mittens when she last went shopping, so it's not like she's going to freeze. Although, perhaps, it would have been a good idea to buy something to cover her legs instead of just throwing the parka on over her usual dress. Oh well.

She's enjoying the walk in spite of the chill, the quiet but for the sounds of the birds and the sun peering down through the clouds and evergreens, when the world unexpectedly becomes a colorful blur and the ground becomes the sky and the silence becomes her very undignified shriek. This is one of those experiments Link mentioned, isn't it? Without her noticing, they've rotated her eyes. Evil ( ... )

Jack runs toward the shriek when he hears it; he might be a brigand and a criminal and a black-hearted pirate, but Jack isn't above at least checking out what might be wrong and trying to right it. He groans inwardly, though, when he sees that his snare has not caught its intended prey, but instead a girl.

"Mistress---!?"

He walks toward her, trying not to alarm her further.

Unfortunately, what Jack had forgotten was that he had set another snare right close by to the one Medli was caught in. With a "BUGGER!" and a snap, the pirate finds himself hanging by one leg beside her.

".......Hallo."

When she sees a man approaching her from the woods, she stops squirming for a moment (all the swaying's making her dizzy anyway) and smiles sheepishly.

"Oh, have you come to rescue me? I seem to have got myself caught in this stra-"

And then the man is upside-down. Or, rather, right-side up.

"-nge contraption. Um. Hello."

"Hallo," he repeats. "Erm.....we're trapped. In traps. These traps? They were meant for turkeys. Not for us. You alright?"

"I'm fine!" she says, rather casually considering... everything. "Well, somewhat dizzy, to be completely honest, but it's nothing to be concerned about. Are you hurt?"

"Not so very hurt, no. But I'm puzzled as to how we're meant to get down, now. Oi---let's try swinging!"

Jack moves his upper body, trying to start up some kind of swinging motion. He isn't certain at the moment what good this will do, but hopefully it might allow him to grab on to one of the trees and at least get himself out of this upside-down position.

"That's a wonderful idea!" she says, and she even thinks of applauding it. Just as quickly, she decides that's not the best idea.

Fortunately, she used to spend every single day using a grappling hook to climb a mountain, and the basic principles to swinging are the same. She starts moving along with the natural momentum of her earlier swaying, back and forth, until she's started to build up a good rhythm.

Now she just needs to find something to grab. And figure out what to do once she gets it.

The swinging is starting to get a little exuberant where Jack is concerned.

"Course it's a wonderful idea!"

Naturally, though, the swinging is going to have to achieve something. Eventually. This is especially true when Jack realizes his swings might end up getting their ropes tangled.

Medli, meanwhile, is making good progress with her swings. She's started to reach heights close to the tree tops and, even better, she's found a thick branch nearby to focus on! It's still a bit above her but if she can just get hold of it, she can pull herself up, get the rope off her ankle, and fly over to the other man to free him.

Keeping an eye on that branch all the while, she rises and falls with gravity, getting higher each time she passes by her fellow upside-down kidnapee. Her efforts pay off soon enough, and as another swing brings her close to the branch, she reaches out in front of her and makes a grab for it. It proves to be too short, not because she misjudged, but because all the momentum has unexpectedly been yanked straight out of the rope.

In the moments before physics take over, she glances down towards the traitorous trap and sees that the other man's rope has become tied with hers. Not only that, but he's going the complete opposite direction.

Oh dear.

"Not good! This! This is not good!" Jack shouts. When he reaches the apex of his swing, there is a good strong tug on that rope that he knows will end in a horrible rope burn on that leg. And then he's jerked backwards, plummeting at high speed into the swing again.

"NEED--BETTER---PLAN!"

"I'msorrybutIdon'treallyhaveone!" Medli shouts back in a jumble of words nearly as rapid as the speed at which she's hurtling back towards Earth. Fortunately, the odd angles of the now-twisted ropes mean that that the two of them avoid a very painful crash when their respective descents end. But what those angles do mean is that said ropes, now with much more momentum than they can possibly use in a single swing, are staring to double back and circle each other in an increasingly tighter snare cyclone. Well, at least the inevitable collision won't be as painful.

Medli is, at least, still conscious.

"Haha, it's a pleasure to fleet you - meet you - Captain Jack Black! Er, Sparrow! I'm Komali! I mean, Medli!"

All that spinning just left her brain a little jostled, that's all.

"You're....Medli?" This was an odd, garbled lass. "Pleasure! I'm...very sorry about the snare, lass."
