There's a lot of hustle and bustle at this casual party, more people moving around house 7 than Raine would have expected. A very nice gathering, even though part of her can't help but feel somewhat out of place. She will give a small smile and conversation to anyone who approaches, though she may end up doing a lot of observing, unless the hostess is in need of any assistance.

Still, there's a lot to complement on, and she even - unasked, most likely - brought along an assortment of cookies for the occasion. Are they edible? With certain guidance she did keep to a sane matter of recipes at least -- at the most, she only got creative with the cookie cutters, involving various geometric shapes and sizes. They're quite harmless and hopefully somewhat tasty otherwise -- some are ordinary chocolate chip, sugar, and of course the majority being lemon. A carefully planned assortment.

"Why are you so preoccupied with his flowers? It's his garden; it's his business on how to tend to them."

"Of course it is, sweetheart. And my preoccupation is over and done with." Lies.

"... Good."

The thought comes to mind that she should likely warn the strategist, anyway, but that's filed away for now. "I'm sure that you have more important things to be concerned with, besides."

"Oh, aye---far much more importanter things than THAT, sweetness. I won't concern myself with it at all."

A warning might help, if she remembers come spring. Jack is still a bit miffed that Raine's so-called love interest doesn't present her with magnificent bouquets.

She finds herself shaking her head a little at the entire exchange. Knowing, yes, what implications were there, and weren't there. It's not as if anything had been explicitly said, on her end.

"I'm sure more interesting things must be going on with you."

"Just survival. Seeking ways home. Looking after the ones I give three beans about. That sort of thing."

[wise_maiden]

"So just the usual."

[lists_to_port]

"Ha! Aye! You might say that! Aubrey's going to be supplying me with some wood. Man loves to chop things, apparently. Going to build a small sailboat this winter." There were always projects to do, even if the major project of escaping Luceti was perpetually on hold.

[wise_maiden]

"You're building another boat?" She raises an eyebrow a little at that. "Still, it's always good to have some kind of project going on. Something that isn't directly tied to the happenings here."

[lists_to_port]

"Just a small one. Probably she won't be able to carry more than two or three people, at most. For Buffy. To learn."

He'd wanted Buffy to learn how to sail. In fact, in recent days it had seemed more of a priority.

[wise_maiden]

"I see... so it's something of a project for her as well. Does she know?"

[lists_to_port]

"Not yet. She doesn't, yet. I'll tell her when I return from my mission, won't I."

[wise_maiden]

"... Your mission."

The mention of people going on those were becoming all too frequent, it seemed. First Albert, just a few weeks ago. Then Sheena, whom she spent some time healing. Now Jack, as well.

"Loading cargo, back at the port." Raine knew the one; she'd been on that draft with Jack aboard Beckett's Mum.

[wise_maiden]

"More cargo? I see..."

She shakes her head a little. "You'll be careful, won't you?"
