Some of you who have known me for a long time know that at one point in my life (a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away) I passed out when my blood was drawn. man, that lab sucked for us last year. i had an elbow hematoma for a WEEK (and i've never ever ever ever had trouble with a needle stick, not ONCE. and i used to give blood regularly!) - and my partner even at that point had gotten only about a cubic mm (not a cc - about 1/100 of a cc) out of my elbow before i called stop. the problem? they made us stick each other with fucking bamboo-sized needles. even the phlebotomist hovering over us was horrified about the size of the needle vs my veins. horrible! our med school hates my class.

congrates to you for not passing out and on your first venipuncture!! I rememebr when we did this for the first time in MA class. I was the first to do it (with the whole of the class watching me) I got blood the first stick with no problems. I was also the pincushion lady. Everyone wanted to stick me because they could see my veins. But we all know that we are not supposed to go by the "look" but the feel of the vein right. Anyhow, you can still see where I've been stuck. Hope you have better luck!
