Anybody up on American symbology?

So, a lady we know was giving her stuff away and she knew I was interested in picture frames and she saved me a whole load of them. They all came with images already in them but frankly not to my taste. She was fine with us just using the frames. the pictures inside them didn't hold any emotional value. Amidst the frames I received, was a ( Read more... )

My thought is masonic.

I think it may be some fraternity thing. It just seems like embroidering this was a large undertaking for something so silly. >:)

My thought is a faux coat of arms for some frat house, or something. Looks like some hippy pseudo-intellectual joke... somehow, the cartoon animals lead me to believe it is not at all a serious symbology.

Maybe that's Jimmy Hoffa's hand reaching up out of the muck to grab a bribe, but too late...

Yep frat seems about the tone. But it's embroided, a painstaking undertaking, which seems too serious for what it might be.

Hmm. None of the normal Masonic symbols seem present. And I know the Kabbalah some, and I don't see any of that, either....

I just did a little looking into it, and it all seems like BS. =/

The phrase on the bottom "Nil Ill..." etc etc is dog latin for "don't let the bastards grind you down."

Upon inspection of the 5's that you see, are probably in reference to the Washington monument (as it is 555 feet tall.) No building is allowed to be higher than it.

I was think fraternity. Possibly a Washington university. It's travelled a long way, if so. >:)

Um.... Beforte the picture loaded I was hoping for some fabulous Masonic sympolism, which I have seen quite a lot of in my past, and from what I've studied in the past, this is nonsense. I don't see anything that could even be taken as masonic really. I could be wrong, maybe there's like a disabled/mentally challenged chapter of them somewhere, but this to me does not say anything masonic. I don't know what the fuck it is, with those weird messages at the side of the banner in english and then german. It could be some weird church thing, or some strange politics club, but I don't think ir's anything too significant.

Add to that, I just tried translating this "latin" at the bottom on many different translator sites, and it turns out to be fuck all.. either that or the banner painters can't spell fuck all, and it actually has meaning. I know that, though, atleast the Masons would use proper latin spelling on anything they did.

The general consensus seems to be leaning towards some fraternity thing. The kangeroo is weird one though.

Did you notice the bit along the side that says something to the effect of Can I ask you a question what the hell are we doing bonggg..?

Lol, What te fuck is that? It must be fraternity or something because none of it makes any sense really.

By the way.. no sign of the hat yet. Have you thought of anything else you might want?

I think it's probably something to do with some stoner frat house.

I think you're right. The kangeroo seems out of place though. Maybe it's a stoner high jump fraternity thing. >:P
