driving

I realized that I've spent more years driving than not driving.  This marks a milestone.
I'm counting years from when I got my driver permit, even though I didn't have a car until 6 years later.  It also took a while to obtain the almighty driver license.  (Not going into details about that!)  After hearing "please Mom, can I borrow the car?" for 6 ( Read more... )

*laugh* When I went off to college, I spent two years realizing it was a real PITA to be stuck on campus, bumming rides. So over the summer I informed my mother that I would buy her car from her. She basically said "Oh! I guess I need a new car." When I saw her new car (a Saturn SL-2), I offered to trade; she declined. :D

And yeah. Just wait 'till you get to the point where you've been driving longer than some 'adults' have been alive. *sigh*

Isn't that how it is with us inheriting a car from a parent? The luck of the draw. I use "inheriting" lightly -- I think my mom made me pay $1 or something similar to get her car. It had lost its ability to go on highways, i.e. couldn't go beyond 55 mph... this limited my long-distance driving. Although, in its grand days, it was used to ferry me back & forth to college (on real fast highways).

;-) Let's not be older... just wiser.
