I've forgotten just how wonderful it is to have a solid chunk of time in which you are obligated to do absolutely nothing. Break has been rejuvenating for that reason alone, and will make it all the more difficult to dive back into the fray when it comes time to return to Purchase ( Read more... )

A word of warning about housing: landlords are reluctant to rent to somebody who doesn't have a steady job. To get my current apartment, I had to have my father sign as a guarantor (i.e. someone who can pay the rent if you yourself can't, and since my parents always just send me the check I haven't had problems, plus my landlord is very laid-back).

As far as affordable Westchester housing, Port Chester tends to have lower rents, though getting to Purchase from there can be kind of a pain in the ass without a car. Also, I'd advise against Yonkers: I'm told it can get pretty dangerous there.

I don't think I'd want to live in the Spawning grounds of Ray, anyhow. Port Chester was at the top of my list as far as West Chester-area towns go.
Eric has a car and a job, so he's going to be the responsible one for awhile...hopefully that'll be enough until I get a job as well.

it's nothing dramatic, he just wants to push me toward independence and will help finance an apartment. i suspect he wants the house to himself, too.
but no, we didn't have a fight for anything.

Yeah I figured that it was something like that. If he's helping pay for it that's actually not so bad...it could be pretty cool.
