Goddam, I thought that this would be a simple decision. Move Back to New Zealand, find a job, work for a bit, and then move to Europe. Now I don't know

In answering that question, maybe take into consideration (as much as is possible anyway) all the things you dislike about being here, and try and see which you think would really change by a change of job & location within Japan, as opposed to those that'll still suck simply because it is Japan.

i definitely couldn't stay in Japan if I didn't move to a bigger city. Rural Japan is cool 'n' all but goddam I need to get out of the inaka.
I equate most of the things that I dislike about Japan with the fact that I am surrounded by japanese rednecks. So moving to a big city where I'm not a freak show, or the center of attention would be nice.
I was under the impression that New Zealand was the most awesome place on earth. That's a tough decision, and I feel for you; I've done it for the last three years--never moved home, but tried. It's hard to stay away, hard to go back. For me, it comes down to whether I can feel successful and still live at home, or if I'd just feel isolated. Good luck with it.
thank you. If I moved home I definitely worry that I'd be doing it because it is the cop-out option, and not because it will help me "grow up". I guess I can still move to Europe from Japan.
