I was at Skye's this weekend for a cookie making event, and two of my cookie recipes garnered requests: our Molasses Cookies, and my Mom's Christmas Cookies (aka Butter Cookies).
I loves me some molasses cookies. That looks like a really good recipe. They've always been one of my favorites, when I was a kid we used to get them at the Dutch market up in Lancaster.
A little bit of rum is also a good addition to molasses cookies (just adjust the flour to keep the consistency).
I love cookies with molasses, but after 2x having a giant molasses disaster, I've given up. I cannot wrestle with that stuff!
Meant to ask you, I was reading a recipe with baker's ammonia for cookie tenderness the other day - have you tried it? There was a big debate on whether it stinks up the house or not.
Was this PJ's Bakers Banter blog? 'cause that topic sounds familiar. I've never used it. Am slightly curious, but stinky substitutes to familiar ingrediants aren't normally something I persue, ya know? What do you think?
I don't think it was...but I imagine cookies are a hot topic many places this time of year :) I feel somewhat the same way you do. The people that used it were raving about it, however they felt about the stink, so I'll probably brave it someday.
