PROLOGUE PART 2

The sun was sneakily awaiting at the horizon, slowly attempting to surprise the still sleeping citizens of London, all but one restless Scottish young man, who was attentively reviewing some of his research material, while absentmindedly pacing back and front in the tiny confines of his hostel room.

There was really no need for the young apprentice to do so, he knew his material by heart, for he had spent numerous food-less and sleepless nights working on perfecting it, consequently resulting in the feeble conditions of his body, which he never worried too much about , for he believed his refined mental skills to compensate his physical inadequacy. Nevertheless, yesterday's unfortunate encounter, made him consider that perhaps, partaking in some sort of weight lifting activity wouldn't have hurt in the least.

The brunette's body lightly trembled, as a quick shiver ran through his spine, recollecting the dreadful meeting of the previous evening, which was still pestering his troubled mind. In his studies of the human brain, he had worked on the analysis of several types of anger, it's causes, and possible treatments, which was exactly the subject he was pondering on, as he hastily kept turning pages. Scratching the top of his head, he closed his notebook, and sighed in defeat. Reaching for his bag, he brought out his diary, and rushed to the little desk in front of him. He swiftly glanced at his silver pocket watch, then seizing the quill that had been laying on the table, he lightly immersed its tip into a small jug of black ink, and began writing.

10th May 1728, Saturday

07:13 AM

Dear Kai,

My mind is currently experiencing grave distress, for the memory of those murderous eyes, had not seem to leave my thoughts, resulting in my lack of needed sleep. Even among some of the patients that I had analyzed, whose case of anger had degraded into pure rage, I cannot seem to recollect the last time I had felt this sense of utmost fear. Thus, I can't seem to understand how such a person is being allowed to walk freely in the streets of London, in the company of two perilous teeth-grinding alleys, instead of being secluded in a institution seeking for proper treatment. Yet, it is true he had not cause me any harm, but in my creditable experience, I strongly believe that it may not be too long until we hear about the case of some vicious murder taking place in the streets of downtown London, and I am immensely grateful, that the Almighty Lord had decided that last night had not been the time for my eternal departure. Just the thought of walking around those streets again, troubles me beyond believe, however, we are soon to leave London, so I doubt we shall ever meet again. Nevertheless, just to be on the safe side, until our departure, I shall keep my stance in the closeness of the hostel I am currently residing in.

Uke Yutaka

Having released his anxiety on the dear pages of his diary, managed to noticeably reduce the fast-paced beating of his weary heart, and relax the tenseness in some of his lanky muscles, which however, resulted in the contracting of one particular organ, followed by the familiar, and embarrassing cry that indicated the urgent need for food. Thus, promising himself to later discuss the matter, with Dr. Niikura, he closed his diary, and after carefully replacing it in his bag, he headed downstairs.

-Good morning, Mister Uke - smiled and ever so happy Miku, who was busy cleaning the top of the front desk.

-Good morning to you Miku - replied the apprentice, getting closer to the young assistant, behind whom he could spot other men and women bustling in the kitchen preparing what he logically concluded to be the guests' breakfast. The brunette's stomach seemed to have reached the same logical conclusion, as it skipped the contracting step, and suddenly released a loud cry. Yutaka instinctively wrapped his arms around his abdomen, flashing an uncomfortable grin on his reddened face, as he observed Miku's amused expression.

-I can go check in the kitchen, and see if I can steal something for you - loudly whispered the brown haired assistant, as he smiled and winked at the oh so grateful brunette.

-That will not be necessary - said a friendly voice behind the apprentice, who turned and found the standing figure of Yasuno Hayashi brightly smiling at him

-Mister Ha-hayashi, good morning - quickly stuttered Yutaka freeing his abdomen, and bowing.

-And a good morning it is indeed - calmly replied the taller, as he walked, and stopped just a few inches from the younger man. He then leaned forward and curiously examined the face of the now furiously red apprentice, who had instinctively taken one step backwards, pressing his uncomfortable figure on the edge of the front desk, swiftly averting his gaze from his observer.

-However, it may seem you hadn't have a pleasant sleep - calmly replied the blonde as he slowly returned to an erect posture - Anything the matter? - he then inquired with a seemingly concerned expression

-No, nothing at all … I do happen ... to have an irregular sleeping pattern - quickly explained the younger.

-I see. Well, would you allow me to relieve your troubled companion, by joining me for breakfast - replied the blonde as he pointed at Yutaka's abdomen. The younger blushed once more, and nervously smiled in embarrassment.

-Oh that will not be neces- tried to assure the younger, but he was politely interrupted by the elder

-I insist. - the brunette then nodded his head in defeat, and turned to smile at Miku, who was looking suspiciously disgusted at the entire scene. He then looked at the the tall blonde, who had opened the front door, waiting for the other to follow.

-A-are we not eating here? - hesitantly asked the brunette, who had no intention of leaving the safety of the hostel.

-I own a restaurant, which is renowned for serving the best meals in London. It's called From Heaven, and it is just down the street - explained the blonde with another reassuring smile, as he used his free hand to point at the exit. The brunette felt his back pressing even closer to the wooden edge behind him, as his eyes quickly widened in fear. He already didn't want to leave, and now he was being forced to go to the one place he was strongly trying to avoid.

-I-I … - tried to object Yutaka, but was yet interjected by the taller

-Myself and any other person you might ask for the fact, would guarantee it's exquisiteness. Aren't I right? - he then asked looking at the still disgusted young assistant behind the counter, who was harshly cleaning the same spot of the counter, over and over again. Yutaka turned towards the assistant, desperately hoping that the younger one's response would have somehow prevented him from having to leave. Miku replied with a skeptical smirk, as he almost scratched the counter, with the increased intensity of his cleaning, but was soon reprimanded for the rude reply, as a woman harshly smacked him on the head.

-Mother! - shouted the suffering boy, as he glared at the woman's stern expression

-Is this the way to answer to one of our most honorable guests?! - shouted the woman, pushing the boy into the kitchen. She then quickly adjusted her hair and clothes, and now displaying a radiant smile, she turned her attention towards the two men -I sincerely apologize for what just happened - calmly replied with an apologetic bow

-Nothing to worry about Mrs. Deyama, I took absolutely no offense - kindly replied the blonde, at which the woman replied with a nod

-And Mr. Hayashi is absolutely right, From Heaven is an superb place, you should most definitely go! - enthusiastically added the woman facing a dumb looking Yutaka, who had long lost his hopes for salvation. He turned towards the awaiting blonde, and slowly made his way to the entrance, when a familiar voice stopped him on his track.

-Shall we all join then? - inquired a jolly Dr. Niikura, who was walking down the stairs followed by Takeru, and miss Ayaka. -And, if I my suggest, I'd say we carry along our belongings, and leave soon after we finished eating - added the doctor, who was now facing his partially relieved apprentice. That wasn't exactly what the brunette was hoping for, both he resigned in the thought that the more people the better.

-Most certainly - calmly replied Yasuno backing out from the now closed entrance. - Shall we go call the carriage? - proposed the taller blonde, looking at the eldest, who simply nodded an led the way, leaving the other three in their company.

-Good morning mister Uke - politely stated Takeru, as he bowed at the brunette, followed by a radiant looking Ayaka.

-Good morning to you Mister Hayashi, Lady Iida - bowed the brunette in reply

-Please do call me Takeru, we are soon to become a vast number of “Mr. Hayashi”, and it may be rather troubling for you, Mr. Uke, to attain the attention, of the desired one among us - humbly offered the youngest, at which the apprentice simply replied with a grateful nod.

-Should I trust in the fact that you had a pleasant slumber Mr. Uke? - serenely asked Ayaka, and the brunette quickly replied with a courteous nod, not wanting to sound rude to Mrs. Deyama, who was hardly trying to mind her business, while she cleaned the exact spot her son was, over and over again.

-How about you Miss Iida, and Takeru? - added the apprentice.

-Oh, I slept like an angel! - promptly replied the lady, as she turned towards Mrs. Deyama with a bow, holding her sumptuous light blue dress as she keeled, with an over-practiced smile on her perfectly made up face.

-I did as well. It was quite, invigorating - kindly smiled the younger blonde as he gave his reply

-I am glad to hear so - replied Yutaka with a smile.

-Please do allow me to express, that you do have the most endearing smile Mr. Uke. I am sure your companion most have difficulties in keeping all the other ladies in check. - observed the light brown haired lady, as she lightly shook her light blue fan in front of her lips.

-Well I do not have a companion, but I do appreciate the compliment lady Iida - replied Yutaka with a light bush

-That may be so, but I am confident in the fact that you must certainly have a lot of amiable suitors, reminding you of this peculiar smile of yours - inquisitively added Takeru.

-I will not deny that I do not. However, I also do not boast about it, because I never follow through. My studies have always had the best of me - nervously replied the brunette as he scratched the top of his head.

-Perhaps could be that you rather enjoy the company of ... men - suggest the younger in a apparent joking tone, but the brunette had the odd feeling that the blonde might have actually meant what was just said, sensing a light hostility when the younger pronounced the word men. However, he quickly brushed away such thought, as the blonde joined Ayaka in an amused laughter in reply to the younger one's joke. Yutaka managed to join in the laughter halfheartedly, and was glad for Dr. Niikura's interruption, given that comebacks, or joking itself, had never been his forte.

-Well it seems like we are set to go. The carriage will soon be here, so that we can place our belongings in it, and then it will wait for us at the usual stop to take us to Bexley, after our breakfast. So shall we go grab our luggage? - explained Dr. Niikura

-You need not to come dear, I shall grab your and Takeru's too - added Yasuno as he smiled at both mentioned people

-Oh thank you, and aren't you just the most caring brother? - rhetorically asked the overjoyed lady

-He is indeed - calmly replied Takeru, as he happily stared at the leaving figure of his brother, who had been joined by the doctor and the apprentice.

The three men came down the stairs some minutes later, and Dr. Niikura, who had offered to help Yasuno, was carrying Takeru's bag, as they exited the hostel, and placed the bags inside the carriage that was waiting for them. They then began their walk towards the restaurant, talking about something that wasn't too clear to the young brunette, who couldn't pay attention, being to busy in his almost paranoid examining of his surroundings, while he made sure not to ever abandon the group. Yutaka hadn't even noticed they had arrived to the location, for his eyes were glued to the ground remembering his mental note, and his mouth released a sigh in relief as his eyes welcomed the dog-less entrance.

The little bell at the top of the door signaled their entrance, and the Yutaka almost forgot about his worries as he gazed at the unbelievably splendid decoration of the restaurant. The tiles we was walking on were made with an expensive looking marble, which was a random mixture of white and black. All the round tables had long white tablecloths that matched the color of the wooden white chairs, and the ceiling had a fresco, which depicted a scenery with various angels playing in what the brunette deduced to be heaven.

-Is the place to your liking? - suddenly inquired Yasuno, snapping the younger from his momentary bewitchment.

-It is breathtaking, Mr. Yasuno - replied Yutaka, as he followed them to a particular table, where the all sat down, as a blond woman wearing a beige dress stopped behind the chair where Yasuno was sitting. Her hair was raised rather high in complicated looking curls, and the gown of where dress was quite voluminous.

-Master Yasuno, how glad to have you join us this morning - said the elder woman with a very delicate voice, as she bowed at the elder Hayashi member - and of course Mister Takeru, and Milady as well - added the blonde woman as she bowed in the direction of the other two - and this gentlemen may be? - she then inquired looking at Yutaka and Dr. Niikura.

-This is Dr. Niikura, he is an excellent doctor, member of the United Kingodm's Medical Departement, and an old family friend. The young gentlemen is his apprentice, Uke Yutaka, who just joined us from Inverness, Scotland. - explained Yasuno, as the woman courteously bowed to the introduced men.

-And, she is Ms. Mana, who is the keeper of the restaurant. She is very persevering with her job, and I personally believe her to be a most interesting person. - concluded Yasuno

-Pleased to make your acquaintance - replied Dr. Niikura, while Yutaka simply nodded with a smile

-I shall immediately send someone to help you with whatever it is you wish for. If you'd excuse me - concluded the restaurant keeper, as she bowed and disappeared to the back.

The restaurant had barely began its activity for they were the first guests, but not for long, as the sound of the bell at the front door, caused the brunette to tense as he swiftly turn towards the entrance, just to find a happy couple walking past them, as they nodded at the Hayashis.

-Is anything bothering you? You seem rather unsettled? - worriedly asked Dr. Niikura, touching the apprentice shoulder, who quickly nodded in negation with the best smile he could muster.

-I did make the same observation this morning.- added Yasuno, who was looking deeply concerned - If anything at all is the matter, please do inform me, and I shall be glad to resolve the problem in the best of my abilities - reassured the elder blonde as he smiled at the brunette, who managed a weak grin, trying not to look backwards, when he heard the door open once more.

During their meal, they engaged in another conversation, which the younger brunette tried really hard to follow, as he had been caught unawares a couple of times, while the sudden increase and decrease of his heartbeat, continued unrestrained, every time the door opened. When they had finally finished, and gave their regards to Ms. Mana, they exited the restaurant, ready to go to the established meeting point with their carriage, while Yutaka tried to recollect himself making a second mental note; Don not back the entrance, when you are trying to watch your back.
