I dunno, I wish someone would write something original about God. Like how He changes you and because of that changing, you can know Him better

I've been thinking of you this past week, actually, so it is funny you posted today! I've not talked about it with more than one or two people, but I am in the beginning stages (like, pre-beginning, really) of joining a monastic Druidry order. I know, it is a very odd concept in a lot of ways, but it speaks to me on a very deep level. It is almost that perfect combination of Pagan spirituality, structure, and deep mystery work that I've longed for

I'm so jealous! I have daydreams about being a Cistercian. I'm not called to it, unfortunately. A great disappointment.
It's a very interesting website, I'm glad you linked me. I had fun reading through it. I find their focus on the Deity's immanence and transcendence a very unique approach for pantheists. I would guess it stems from ancient Wiccan philosophy - it's quite pure.
I like how they have used and adapted monastic tradition. Some points are identical, some are widely divergent, but you would expect that.
I'm glad you're excited, honey. Even if you decide down the track that it's not for you, it will never have been a waste of time.
Funny thing about sacrifices, they hurt at the time, but bear the most unexpected and amazing fruit I've found. It's like planting a garden with no idea what will grow. I will be so interested to hear what grows in your garden. Keep us all up-to-date!
That's interesting - why a Cistercian, specifically? Were I of the faith, I've imagined I'd go with Benedictine. :)
Right now I'm aiming for Second Order with this group. I'd love to strive for First Order, but my day job and Grove job won't allow me that sort of dedication, I don't think. But that is getting ahead of myself! Step one, sign up. Step two, learn. Deciding what path I'll go down will be something like step eleventy-hundred, I think. So much to learn!
I'm glad I'm excited, too. I've found this last week to be so peaceful, even when I've noticed that things have been hectic and crazy. For me, that is a HUGE thing, because I feed so much off of the energy around me. I
I will definitely keep you posted on the spiritual happenings! I want to get a bit more under my belt before I start making LJ posts about it, but I'll be in touch as things grow and change!
The Cistercians grew out of the Benedictine movement, so we would have been Benedictines together, just a different flavour. ;D The Cisterians wanted to return to form of the Benedictine Rule that was closer to how monks lived during St Benedictine's life.
I like the idea of the Cistercians because they are mostly silent and are also enclosed which, as I'm sure you know, means they don't have any contact with the outside world. They also have to support themselves with manual labour, usually agriculture. It just sounds so peaceful to me.
That's the definition of true peace, isn't it? When the peace is still there when everything around you is frenetic and going bananas. You just know you are in the right 'place' in your life despite the surface drama. Well, it sounds like you most definitely are.
It's funny how life pulls you down paths you don't expect and never looked for, isn't it?
