ETA the fourth--bonus computer, not phone! So--I feel a bit like my point has been missed on some parts, so I wanted to clarify. I have absolutely no problem with cis-women-only rituals. What I have a problem with is when a ritual that is purported to be for "all women" or, in the case of Z's ritual, "the beauty and grace of the feminine form in ( Read more... )

I had intended to be there to show my support as well, but made the mistake of sitting down for a minute after dinner. 2 hours later, I woke up. Oops ( ... )

Just keep one thing in mind: Budapest is not a joke. She's a punchline.

No, she's got the slavish adoration of one particular faction with a knack for public flame-outs, and a second group keeps her around just for her habit of spouting exclusionary rhetoric. She seems popular because she brings her own fans, and it hides the fact that the vast majority of Pagandom couldn't pick her out of a lineup.

Hmm.. Don't hate on me, please, for what I am about to say. I enjoy a good debate but I don't want an argument. Sensitive material, I know, but bear with me as it's 5:30AM here and I am trying to put words together properly ( ... )

I'm not hating, just saying: it seems like a mastectomy could be just as distracting to someone who is distracted in that way. I think someone like that would do better to learn more focus or stick to less potentially distracting rituals.

Maybe it's just me, but when I'm in a skyclad ritual somebody's bits are the last thing on my mind. Magick is why I'm in ritual, not somebody's peripherals.

I agree; skyclad ritual isn't about what bits people have. It's a *ritual*. Bits are not the point.

Well done indeed my friend.

the thing I remember the most about her spoken words were her emphasizing multiple times that “I am not the enemy”.

In that she is wrong, some day I hope she understands that she's as much of an exclusionary bigot as the fundies who made certain that last week the only people who spoke in the House of Represenatives about contraceptive coverage were men.

"A number of Z's supporters, who appeared to be primarily men, showed up from down the hall; they were only around as long as she spoke, and then went away again."

That's both a bit creepy and most of all somewhat weird. If that wasn't a deliberate intimidation tactic, I have no idea what was going on.

It seems I won that bet.

I'll note, having been there, that I overheard Z say, "I'm so glad my guardians are here," and one of them clarified, "They aren't your guardians. They are guardians." When Z finished speaking, a number of the queer men from the line turned around and sat down with the protest.
I think they were asked to be there to hold the space, but it wasn't clarified, and it came off as very weird.
