Kelly the trendsetter, I guess. Lace up Oxford heels are all the rage. I got a pair at target a year and a half ago and wore them until the metal shank in the sole snapped (and dug into my foot at a VNV show ( Read more... )

I love this post, therefore, I am saving it. :) It's so funny--I was just on the Torrid website yesterday and was marveling over that same cowlneck dress. BLECH!

Torrid is such shit. They started out as the Plus-Sized Hot Topic extension and caused an uproar w/ the goth girls when it became the "work wear for office girls" store and jacked up their prices accordingly. (a' la Lane Bryant)

Somewhere in this transition they decided that skinny jeans would look good on stubby legs. They need to find new buyers.

I don't know what Torrid's deal is. Sometimes I'll see really cute stuff there. And they don't follow the "shapeless sack to hide your body" plus size school of thought. But so much of their stuff doesn't even look good on the models! I don't know who would buy them if they can't get it to work on a model in such a highly controlled environment.

So true! It's a lot harder when you're a bigger size, since most plus clothing is made to look like a giant tent of shame for the fat girl, and it takes more effort to find something cute. But it is true, everyone has their good parts and bad parts, and would do better to play them up/down instead of following trends.

Thanks for your legs comment. ;-) I have an atrocious waistline, but I have E size breasts, and legs that go up to my neck, so when I go out, I try to always wear short skirts, high heels, and loooooow cut tops. I actually alter most shirts I buy by just cutting the neckline, and hemming it (which is possible with nothing more than scissors and hem tape. anyone can do it ie: anyone who doesn't rock the seamstress skills like Kelly). And putting on makeup is a lot like selecting clothes. You always hide the worst features, and emphasize the best. Just because people want to sport the 'goth' look, doesn't mean that they should cover their face in white, pasty powder, and give themselves raccoon eyes. If you have chubby cheeks, and are pale, then for chrissakes, use a highlighter on your cheekbones. It will make your cheekbones look more prominent without the use of blush or bronzer. And, unless you have really big, light eyes, then please, do NOT coat your eyes with 3 layers of black eyeliner. Do a small line in the inner rim of your ( ... )

This is so funny. It's the opposite for me I ahve tree trunk legs and nothings fits my wait that fits my legs nad vice versa. They assume if you ahve tree trunks then you must also have a big belly. >:| So this means that everything is made for girls that are fat all the way through. I don't know ONE girl thats fat in every area.

The worst thing that girls with short or chubby legs can do is wear knee high or chunky "stompy" boots. When I wear these, my legs look fat and stumpy. I really don't know who these shoes and clothes are made for. I guess the only people who look good in these boots and odd length pants or skirts are beanpoles.

I have no ass...and when I wear pencil skirts, they actually give me one..but then the length of them usually makes my legs look short and stubby, so I guess I am doomed to pick one or the other, lol.

You do have a nice waistline. And when I saw you a few weeks ago, I really didn't think you looked bigger than the last time I saw you about a year before that, lol. So if you are gaining weight, you sure are hiding it well. Whenever I gain weight, it goes right into my face and upper body, giving me even more of a linebacker stature, lol. Don't even get me started on if something I am wearing has shoulder pads, lol. I really look like I should be in Bills' training camp then, lol.

I also do not know one girl that is fat all the way through. Instead of different sizes, they should group clothes according to where they are made bigger, lol. Like with mens clothes, which have a waist and inseam size. Most men are built pretty straight, so why they make clothes with just one measurement for women, and two for men is beyond me. If they started making both tall and short and average clothes for women, (in all stores, not just Lane Bryant and Torrid) I'd be pretty happy.
