We're thinking about buying this house. I'm having a hard time reconciling my hatred for car centric life and suburban sprawl against the fact that I like this house a lot.. I'm slowly coming to grips with the fact that I'm not going to find the house I grew up in out here, which is depressing. Can't fight a century of "progress" I guess ( Read more... )

It's running off of my computer at home, and I took my network down for an hour to watch the Sopranos, so you must have tried it then.. Should be up now.

Nice place. I assume that Heather gets the master suite, while you'll be bunking it in the Pink Room? That room just screams "Lurch" for some reason.

Of course! Extending that pink to cover the whole room would be the first thing I'd do. Maybe paint a unicorn or something too. It's so me.

That looks like a beautiful home. How far is it from an exit off of the Thruway? It doesn't look like its too far north but I have friends all over NY.

I'd say it's 2-5 minutes from exit 16, and 5-10 minutes from exit 15. The thing about heading up there is that as you head north past Saratoga, the population thins out, which means there are fewer school districts and they're farther apart. Since Heather doesn't have a full time job for next year yet, moving that far would limit the number of places she can apply and still keep a reasonable commute, and that seems like a bad move.

ahhhh . . . well in that case I hope you find a different home that is just as fabulous in a more populated area.
