Um, hello,

I'm new to this comm although I have been devouring the rewatch and the fic, and thought I'd post a ficlet, cuz, well, ficlets are always good stress relief, which I need right now. I don't know this fandom well, so please forgive any errors (such as the name of Luke's nephrologist at Memorial, who I made up). Also, this is not exactly the prompt, but Luke is totally making that face in this ficlet. Yes! Really, he is. I promise. :-)

In retrospect, he really should have told Reid last Wednesday. Reid was brutally honest--have you been playing paintball and forgot to change? Was competency not a requirement for this job?--but Luke kind of loved that about him. And Luke knew that Reid prized honesty as well. So yeah, that’s what he should have done

Reid had been having a relatively good day. He’d had a surgery first thing that was not only interesting but that went really well, a minimal amount of interaction with Gretchen, and his assistant had done most of his paperwork, leaving him only to review and sign where the stickies told him

Meanwhile, Reid was kicking himself. He was a doctor. He was a doctor, damn it, and how could he have missed the signs? Luke had been tired, he’d been falling asleep every evening before Reid could even try for sex, and he’d been pale. When Reid asked, Luke had just used work as an excuse, but--
I like this. Even though they're so close, they wouldn't know everything about each other all the time.

Thanks for continuing it! I'm so glad Reid is there for Luke and that scene on the couch--guh, so lovely and sweet. Everything will be okay, I'm sure.

Hee! I do like my schmoop :-) And yeah--they're both busy, and the reason I like these two is because they feel more real, less soap opera-y to me--which means that when they're busy, they may not see as much of each other--or notice as much--as they maybe would otherwise or feel they should. You can be in a couple and still have an independent life! The storyline with the whole Chris thing was part of this--where Reid was running around with four thousand things on his plate of which Luke knew nothing.

Thank you! I hope, once I become a little more familiar with the canon, that I will be able to write more! This one was fun to write--I'm such a sap at heart, soaps and their melodrama are kind of the perfect thing for me :-)

Thank you! I like that despite the fact that he is a character in a soap, that Reid eschews drama, for the most part. It is pretty awesome--and he kind of wrote himself! This was fun to write--I'm glad you liked it!
