Um, hello,

I'm new to this comm although I have been devouring the rewatch and the fic, and thought I'd post a ficlet, cuz, well, ficlets are always good stress relief, which I need right now. I don't know this fandom well, so please forgive any errors (such as the name of Luke's nephrologist at Memorial, who I made up). Also, this is not exactly the prompt, but Luke is totally making that face in this ficlet. Yes! Really, he is. I promise. :-)

In retrospect, he really should have told Reid last Wednesday. Reid was brutally honest--have you been playing paintball and forgot to change? Was competency not a requirement for this job?--but Luke kind of loved that about him. And Luke knew that Reid prized honesty as well. So yeah, that’s what he should have done ( ... )

I love that Reid didn’t get angry with Luke and just reminded him that he would be there every step of the way. Great job and welcome to the fandom! :)

Thank you so much! I figured Reid is the kind of guy to focus on the important things--yeah, he's miffed that Luke was kind of immature and didn't tell him--but in my head, Luke is also just scared and avoiding the issue himself, and the idea of being sick again scares him and brings up all kinds of stuff, and Reid knows that. So yes, they will have to sort out all of this at some point, but for now, Reid in my head is not Noah--he knows that right now, he needs to focus on Luke and not his own irritation and fear, so he's going to do just that.

Sigh. All this encouragement has got me overthinking these things. I might write a brief coda. :-)

Hee! He was fun to write. I liked the idea of a repetitive worry--from the little I know, it seemed kind of Luke-like :-)

Great start to your ficlet (boy am I glad to see you already continued :))! Timing is a tricky, tricky thing.
I sure hope Luke's doctor's first name is not Conrad, though, because then I'd really be worried. :D

Hee! Well, I sort of dashed off the first half, but yeah, it was kind of incomplete :) And nope, not Conrad! I think I just used the first fairly generic name I could think of :) Thank you for reading and for the welcome! Since I posted it, I noticed a bunch of typos in this ficlet; this is what happens when one posts while sleep-deprived ...

Great job! It's a very realistic premise and it's very in character for Luke. And I enjoyed Reid's terse text - getting right to the point. I look forward to reading more from you!

Thanks! This is the first fandom I've ever written fanfic for and was amazed at how addictive it is.
