Well, this kind of specious analogy is in no way exactly the kind of logic-free argument that has turned a respected evolutionary biologist into a risible broadcaster and commentator...

What do you think are the key similarities between Fascism and any kind of spiritual, religious or supernatural belief, Lurid?

I mean, as someone once said of someone else, I've seen you bend over backwards to be Captain Reasonable with his Amazing Reasonable Powers for some of the biggest wankers to ever pollute the internet, but people who criticise Dawkins' polemical work are equivalent to apologists for Fascism. Wow, man. I mean... just, wow.

This is totally Godwintastic and not to be taken at all seriously at the level of implying an equivalence between critics of Dawkins and apologists for Fascism. And the whole thing - and its a joke, obviously - rests on the fact that Fascism is a kind of boo word that deligitimates any sort of defence, in a way that is almost divorced from the content of Fascist ideology.
