"Epic Fail" with its not even nine (9) minutes of quality screentime was worth a week of fruitful conversations between two fans. Here's a kind of summary of our musings:

Of Epic friendship... )

Excellent analysis! I think Wilson is the one thing (or person) besides the medical puzzles that work for him and that are good for him.

I feel the same about "Broken". Filled with entertaining but inconsequential stuff while the important things --like what House told Nolan in his sessions about his real issues--were left out. We've seen stories here that put that storyline to shame. "Epic Fail" started to correct "Broken's" shortcomings (and needed only 9 minutes for it, not 90 ( ... )

I don't see it as House not trusting Wilson. I see it as House not wanting to HURT Wilson, to disappoint him. Because when Wilson gets hurt, he withdraws. And we know with certainty, House cannot live without Wilson in his life.

And House is a grown man at least 10 years older than Wilson. House is a drug addict - which usually means lying and manipulating. House is responsible for his choices.

Micki says: Wilson behaves like this because he’s worried like hell and because he hasn’t processed or fully realized that House is trying to change yet ( ... )

Well thought-out. The only thing I think we're all missing (and I did it, too) is that House and Wilson are NOT sharing Wilson's bedroom. I watched the episode again and caught it - there's a pillow and blanket tossed across the armchair in the background during the eating ice-cream scene.

oh, I have abolutely seen that small excuse for a pillow and blanket on the armchair! :)
But (!) it's much too little bedding, no way would Wilson let House sleep on his white (!) couch without sheets. And on the couch beside House are the usual deco-throw pillows and on the back of the couch the usual woven blanket (?). No House we know would put them back again after setting his hypothetical (!) meager bedding away. And look at that couch. It's much too soft to sleep on anyway. My back hurts from just seeing him sitting on that useless piece of furniture (and Wilson's hackles are also rising at that scene because he already sees that ice-cream dripping on his white couch). Well. I interpret it this way and I like it the way I interpret it. I will deny it until proven wrong (and then I will still deny it).

This is so spot-on. It seemed like a lot of the psychology behind the H/W dynamic and House's problems/etc were left to subtleties in this episode, which I approve of. I had to watch it twice. And I completely agree that "Broken" was lacking in actual substance. I'm not sure what they had hoped to gain there.

I think you should post an analysis of every episode this season. You sum it up beautifully.
