Shortly after checking in a guest comes back down to ask for another room because they don't want an adjoining room. We quickly give them another room, but my coworker and I are very confused because this room isn’t listed as an adjoining room, and we've put other people who had requested non-connecting rooms there before and never had a complaint ( Read more... )

So, you haven't seen me around here lately.  There's been a lot of change.  We bought our first house!  I took a new job!  And! .... Actually that's it.  But those  things are pretty huge.

My Employees did something very sweet today. I keep a hire anniversary calendar to help me keep track of vacation renewals and when evaluations are due.

They saw my name on the calendar and threw me a 10 year anniversary surprise party. There were balloons, and cake, and flowers, and a card, and presents. I was so moved that they chose to celebrate ( Read more... )

1. I started my day by chasing a homeless man out of our breakfast area. He had been allowed inside to warm up, but I had to draw the line when he stole food.

2. Someone smoked in room 330. I spent the entire day on the phone with his father and the police.

I went to a laser light show at our local planetarium with my parents and my husband today.  It was set to Pink Floyd.  I was so tired already and the show so mesmerizing and soothing that I had trouble keeping my eyes open.  I wish shows like this were more common though because it was very different from any other show I had been to before.

A couple weeks ago I discovered that a tv show had been made of Douglas Adam's "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency."  I just finished watching the second season and am terribly disappointed both in the fact that the show was cancelled long before I knew it existed, and in the behavior of Ken.
