I'm sure we're the exception, not the rule, by my husband and I got married 13 years to the day we met. We were "best friends" for most of the time before that. And when he asked me out in college and I said I liked him like a friend, I also lent him my copy of WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.

So Nora Ephron *and I* ruin it for everyone else.

I always loved that you married your best friend (eventually!) and I even remember it giving me hope a few years back, but I've come to realize that yeah, it seems to be the exception as opposed to the norm.
