Where Are They Now?

So I was telling inklingfair about what the local LJ "scene" was like several years ago, and I couldn't help but pause for bouts of laughter. Thinking about all the LJ friending, unfriending, not-friending-back, deletions, revivals, migrations, multiple journals, secret journals, fake celebrity journals, the outings, the backstabbing, the gossip, the ( Read more... )

That was a hell of a fucking scene, I'll say! Definitely kept my lunch hours entertaining, even if I didn't really partake in the more dramatic elements myself. Mario and I talk about that stuff sometimes too, rarely without head-shaking chuckles.

Inexplicably, I still get a couple new friends every year. Long live LJ!

It was a hilarious, hilarious moment in a very bleak, bleak time of my life lushlush September 17 2009, 21:00:30 UTC
Andyman!

Do you mean the Manila scene, or in-your-neck-of-the-woods scene?

Come to think of it, there was an overlap somewhere, wasn't there? Rememberthe time when Mario's stalker not-ex posted his then-girlfriend's phone number publicly to terrorize her, and when then-girlfriend retorted that not-ex should give her baby a bath, not-ex accused her of hatin' for no reason? That was golden!

Man, volatile relationships. I'm not even friends with the dude I discovered Mario's LJ from! You're still my favorite friend of his, though, even if you never write! Do you still ever update that entry-turned-diary?

a saving grace for me, too, during my worst year odobenidae September 18 2009, 14:39:28 UTC
You're far too kind! Indeed, my LC post journal from 2004 is still developing. It's turned into a sort of thread experiment, since I'm working on creating patterns throughout. A thumbtack gets you an update! Not as active in 2009, but I'm still adding, and likely shall till I reach the 5K max. Few check, obviously.

Our "scene" was probably just as ridiculous. I look back at stuff like this and marvel at the absurdity of it all. I recall some early Mario stuff vaguely, but I don't know if we were as close then! Maybe I'll go back and re-read some MH/LC stuff. No doubt the password to steal his first account is gone by now...!

Who was the Mario link? Mine was Eran/WDB, who's no longer around LJ (another damn shame). Luckily he lives here in town, so I see him on occasion.

Wow! Can I get a link to the LC post journal? I most definitely will thumbtack that motha'!

Also, my Mario link was Dino/skipscada - does that ring a bell for you?

LOL the only thing I can actually relate to is the deletions + revivals plus the 'outings'. I can't stand everything else, especially the pretentiousness. OMG. WTH.
