Man, The Ruling Class is a very strange movie. Twice as long as it should've been, and fueled by way too much acid. Finally seeing it explains a lot about the friend I had in high school who listed it as her favorite movie, though.

We watched the director's cut of Watchmen yesterday. It's a great movie, but I still have no idea how it got made; the original comic is so much a "comic book for comic book readers", and it's also so heavily steeped in 80s cold war culture, that I can't imagine any studio exec thinking that it would appeal to a modern movie-going audience.

I just dug up my old list of covers I like better than the originals to add DJ Sammy's cover of "Heaven" by Brian Adams. I had no idea it was a cover until I heard the original on the radio the other day and thought that I'd fallen into some terrible alternate universe (again).

What would you add to that list?
