I am not quite sure what the hell boric acid spray is, but I doubt it will do squat for fleas. I think some wires got crossed. Boric acid POWDER can be shaken onto the carpets and along moldings to help with fleas. It doesn't kill the fleas so much as it small and sharp particles that actually rips the fleas open. If you can't find the powder, diatemaceous earth for pool filters will do the same thing ( ... )

Thanks for the spiel. I did put the powder all over the carpet as well, so something's gotta work.

I put store-bought flea drops on her (the brand did work on my cats). The major problem here is that I used a shitty brand on her last week that didn't work, which then I realized she had a ton of them, and gave her a flea bath which of course only killed the live ones. At this point, I don't want to put any more chemicals on her for a while.

This is of course a last ditch effort and if it doesn't get better I'll have to find a vet clinic. Money is really limited this month.

Bailey's not a puppy anymore. She's about 2. She actually hasn't had a flea problem since I first brought her home. You might be right about the worm thing (ewww) though 'cause I find more of them around her hind legs and such. I'll keep an eye out and if this isn't all cleared up soon I'll get her to a vet for sure.

If nothing else I'll use the borax in the laundry. Ugh.

You have to watch out for the pool grade version of DE. It is not safe. You should only use the food-grade version for bug treatment in the house and on the animals.

Warning about the pet store flea stuff - a lot of it is deadly to cats. Seriously, the stuff that contains pyrethrins depending on how much is in it can cause from mild twitching to full blown seizures, coma, and death. A big vet group has been suing Hartz for years for selling that stuff (their stuff will kill cats) but no one regulates it and Hartz continues to sell that garbage. The pet store stuff will work, just will only last for about 48 hours at most from the ones I have seen

Yeah, I read about the hartz thing after I put it on the dog (ugh!) Theirs does not work on my dog anyway.

I do not have a cat so I'm not worried about killing a cat (just the one dog).

I put Seaegents on her.

She seems to be doing better than she was. I killed what I could still find last night myself. Little motherfuckers. She wasn't scratching all night at least.

We used to use the storebought stuff on my old dog all the time and it seemed to work. Haven't had this big of a problem since we first moved to FL, though.

We just battled fleas in November. We had pest control guys spraying nasty chemicals inside and out because I just wanted them GONE. We also started the Frontline treatment from the vet. I don't want to put chemicals on my dogs, but I don't want fleas again.

There was an article in the news online recently that said that vacuuming on a daily basis is an extremely effective way to get rid of the fleas. The vacuum sucks 'em up and does not allow them to breed.

Diatomaceous earth will only kill the adults as well, but it is safe if you get the food-grade version. It basically dehydrates the bugs so they die. They can't reproduce like that. Go to this site for a little info on DE: http://www.critterchat.net/diearth.htm.
