What a great little scene, perfectly in character!

I can't help but think that Giselle would be stirred to sympathy by the despair in James' eyes ... even without knowing the full story behind it. And, regardless of his not-quite-impeccable state, she'd still consider him a fine figure of a man (particularly in comparison to the rough and disreputable lot that generally frequents the bars of Tortuga). Even in disgrace, he maintains a gentleman's manners and a certain dignity, which Giselle no doubt would appreciate: being treated like a lady, and not just a whore.

Brava!!

Grazie! :-)

*aww mingled with purrr*

And I love this:
Fancy Latin word, that… learned from Jack.
I imagine that James would be slightly annoyed, knowing it, but then maybe smiling, even if wrily. ;)

Thanks for the compliment! You've just warmed the cockles of my cat-lover's heart! :-)

I would guess that gratis is one of Jack's favourite words (especially when in negotiations with doxies)! ;-)

I think James would not only be annoyed, but utterly horrified to think that he and Jack had anything (especially a sex partner) in common, let alone consider what other things Jack might have taught her! (Somehow, though, with James and Giselle busily engaged in certain activities of a highly personal nature, I rather doubt that the subject of Jack Sparrow will even come up!) ;-)

Thank you so much for reading, and Commenting! :-)

Oh how nice of her!

I always figured Giselle as a bit of a softie. (Scarlett, not so much.) I think she would have been moved to sympathy by James' pain, and impressed that (even a few sheets to the wind), he's well-mannered and gentlemanly enough to treat a "fallen woman" like her with the respect due a lady. I'm sure she's not accustomed to receiving such kind consideration from most of her other customers, and that fact alone, in her mind, would entitle James to a "freebie."

Lovely little ficlet

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-)

Huzzuh for Giselle/Norrington!

Yea, verily! ;-)

I think, after all that he's been through, James at the very least deserves a bit of "comfort" (and how nice of Giselle to provide it ... gratis!) ;-)

Thank you for reading, and Commenting! :-)

Oh, dear one...what a treat--this is just beautiful! It's such a sadness of Norrington's fate and such a sweet gift that she offers, a lonely heart reaching out to another. Love can lay all low, no matter where one begins. There is joy in this becos for a brief time the two will not be alone and that is about all they have available to them at this time. Really lovely response to the prompt.

For a proud man like James, losing everything he'd ever valued in his life must have indeed been hell. Giselle (being rather tender-hearted, at least the way I picture her, and likely no stranger to pain, or loneliness, herself) could not help but respond to that pain in another's eyes. Though James would no doubt quail at the thought of having fallen so low as to have anything in common with a Tortuga whore, I think in a way he and Giselle are kindred spirits, whether they're consciously aware of it or not.

Love can lay all low, no matter where one begins. There is joy in this becos for a brief time the two will not be alone and that is about all they have available to them at this time. Sometimes, at the lowest points of one's life, one has to take what they can get, accept what comforts they can, however fleeting, when they're offered. And ( ... )
