Poor James! He's got to be the single most tragic figure in the entire PotC canon. One can't help but feel for the man (even when he's, essentially, brought about his own downfall). How he must've regretted that one tragic, rash decision that cost him, and his entire crew, so dearly! :-(

Thank you so much for reading, and Commenting. :-)

Damn child, that was a rock 'em, sock 'em ending! Damn! He would have too, been thinking exactly that--why had he worked so hard been beaten so bloody and still there...Man, never ever saw this one coming--and that in my opinion is just what you're supposed to do, knock me over with a feather and you did. I do believe you have just been "resting your eyes" before you pour your heart out! Oh, yeah, did you guess I think you done real fine?

Poor James! He must've been suffering one horrendous case of survivor's guilt, made exponentially worse by the knowledge that he had been the one to condemn his ship and crew to destruction when he'd ordered them to sail into that hurricane. Little wonder he'd sought Tortuga, and the refuge of the bottle, after that! :-(

BTW, you have to know that I do adore James Norrington. Of any character in the PotC canon, he's the one who suffers the deepest, and (if I may say so) does it so beautifully. James has such a purity of spirit and purpose, such a firm and strong belief in his moral superiority and in his definition of right and wrong, as well as his sworn duty to maintain those values, that it truly hurts to see him fallen to his lowest in DMC, when his world, and his image of himself, is turned so completely upside-down.

Damn child, that was a rock 'em, sock 'em ending! Damn! ... Man, never ever saw this one coming-- ( ... )

Such a thought-provoking, intense drabble. Wonderful!

Oh, my! Thank you so much! Despite his tendency to pomposity, James really is an endearing character, in his own way. He feels things so deeply, but is loath to show it (stiff upper lip, and all that). One can imagine how devastating it was, to realise his unwise decision had led to such utter destruction.

Thanks again for taking the time to read, and Comment! :-)
