Too bad Liz didn't get a chance witness that- it would've made her feel *much* better. Her father truly is in a better place!

Too bad Liz didn't get a chance witness that- it would've made her feel *much* better.

It may not have made her miss her father any less, but I'm sure it would have eased her pain and given her great comfort to know that her father and mother had indeed been reunited on the other side, and would be able to enjoy each other's companionship for the rest of eternity (until, of course, such time when Elizabeth could join them herself, which hopefully would not be for a good, l-o-n-g time).

Her father truly is in a better place!

Certainly, any place without Cutler Beckett in it would by default have to be a "better place"! (And, of course, there was no chance of Weatherby seeing him posthumously, since Beckett's soul would have been bound not for warm reunions Above, but for considerably hotter climes Below.) ;-)

Thanks, as ever, for taking the time to read, and Comment! :-)

What a sweet and hopeful scene this is. Thank you for writing it. And as sharklady35 said, would that Elizabeth could've witnessed it.

You're welcome! IMO, it's the least I could do for poor Weatherby, to provide this little "silver lining" for his sadly tragic demise. I recall suffering the shock along with Elizabeth at the realisation that Weatherby had been killed. Truly one of the most moving (and heartrending) scenes of the entire PotC series! :-(

And as sharklady35 said, would that Elizabeth could've witnessed it.

It may have been small comfort, indeed, for the loss of her father, but a comfort nonetheless, knowing he and his mother would be happy, together, in the Afterlife.

Thank you so much (as ever) for reading, and Commenting!

Aaaawww! Thank so much for the wonderful compliment (and apologies to you for the awkward timing. The last thing I'd want to do is send you off to work with red, swollen eyes!). :-)

Ohmyword....how bittersweet this lovely one is-- ... BEAUTIFUL, BABY LUVVY, just totally beautiful.

I'm so glad you think so. Weatherby was one of my favourite characters. Had a bit of a stick up his elegant butt at times, but his heart was truly in the right place when it came to his daughter, and doing what he thought was best for her. I really mourned his passing in AWE. He didn't deserve what Beckett (and Mercer) did to him, and I'd like to think he at least wound up in a place of happiness and love at the end of that otherwordly boat ride.

you been saving up to make this fine one! Heaven knows, my fic-muse has been one lazy b*tch lately! Happy I was able rouse her from her stupor long enough to crank out a few measly drabbles! (LOL!) ;-) I'm mighty pleased that you ( ... )

The look on Jack's face when he said to her "Elisabeth..." blew my mind and he called her by her name rather than some variation of his own. He understood without a doubt what was happening and what it would mean to her. It's also one of the ways I knew she loved Will deeply. When something so dreadful happens you turn to that one where you are safest.

That was so beautiful. It's amazing how you created such an incredibly intense, moving atmosphere in just a few sentences.

I'm so happy you think so! I always felt so bad about the way Weatherby met his end, and that he didn't live to see his dreams for Elizabeth's future come true (regardless that Elizabeth's ideas of how to pursue her happiness no doubt differed somewhat from her father's!). The least I could do is reunite him with his beloved wife, and given him the semblance of a happy afterlife.

Wonderful drabble!

Thank you so much for reading, and for your lovely comments! I'm glad you liked the drabble, and found it moving! :-)

Thank you! I love Weatherby to bits, and thought he deserved a bit of "sweet" after meeting his "bitter" end at the hands of Beckett and Mercer.

Love it, even though it put tears in me eyes.

Aaawww, thank you for the ultimate compliment! I'm so glad you enjoyed and were moved by my drabble, and appreciate your lovely comments! :-)
