1st Banana

[A portly, mustachioed man leaps up from his bed, shocked and gasping for breath. He touches his face to see if something is amiss. It ought to be. For one, he isn't wet. He should still be in the currents of a sewer, being carried off to oblivion. Secondly, there aren't any trumpets. Yes, there should be trumpets ( Read more... )

What a strange message. Did you even look for it yet?

[A deep sigh.]

There are none in this household. ... Actually, there are some, but they are tasteless. Gaudy. Very much out of style.

My head has no place for ugly hats like those.

You might not have any choice but those gaudy hats. This town specialises in gaudy.

... Pfeh. There are photographs in this house, did you know? The style here appears to be one sported by the 50's decade.

The fedora and bowler have nothing on my fine turban very recently stolen from me, but I will not be unhappy for trying out such... vintage western hats. The ones made at home were clearly bought with no taste or even sight, however.

[Once before, he had come along the main street of town and been struck with such emotion that it had felt as if he could no longer draw breath. That time, as it was now, had been with one whom he knew to be absolutely, positively, beyond a doubt, deceased. That time, unlike now, had been a occasion of joy.

Lucas, a year or two older, but nonetheless obviously Lucas, feels time and space contracting until he could focus on nothing else but the face off in the distance. Perhaps Fassad is so preoccupied with finding the clothing store that he doesn't notice the stricken boy. But he'll change that soon enough.]

You...

Why are you here?

You're not even dead... You don't exist anymore. What are you doing here?

[Hiding the visible traces of his origins has been the highest order of priority for Fassad. All of that was made futile in instant thanks to this one boy who just happened to be nearby. Fassad, in his desperate, embarrassing state, turned to him and replied with a look of murderous hatred.

He opened his mouth and prepared to shriek a litany of threats and other combinations of unkind words. Preparations were made and ready to be put into action, but... None of it came out. It's all because this boy who thought it necessary to reappear also had to say... "You don't exist anymore".

Lucas knew. And Fassad understood. He simply gave a grunt.]

I did not think that we will ever meet again. And not just in battle.

... But here we are. Lucas. Did you pull out my Needle? Or did Master Porky's pet beat you?

[Shocked disbelief gives way to a flare of anger. He stiffens, a rarely seen expression beginning to form on the features of his face.]

My brother is no one's pet. Don't call him that again.

I pulled your Needle. I woke the Dragon.

[In contrast to Lucas' anger, Fassad simply looked shocked... and then irritated, but in a tired way. He lowers his head and begins rubbing his temples.]

... Then after everything, Master Porky lost. But somehow, I think he still had his fun. And your brother...

[Porky may have been shocked, but Locria knew a long time ago that the Masked Man was connected to Lucas. Fassad had a direct hand in guiding Tazmily Village during Porky's reign. He heard stories about Flint's twins and wife. It wasn't as if anybody forgot about how a family lost almost half of its members in no more than a week.

And to find an injured boy who miraculously has the power to use PSI... while Lucas obtained years afterward the same power... One need only fit the pieces together.]

You found out about that too. What an agonizing, miserable life you have, Lucas. It's a shame you couldn't have been happier.
