During my most recent meeting with Beth, she said she is shooting for May to form my discernment committee. While she has been clear that the selection of the committee is her choice, she has giving me a chance to voice my concerns about anyone I would abolutely not want on the committee. I'm feeling better today. I'm still struggling wih the balance of getting my own needs met and realizing I am a single person among nearly 300 others, and with humility vs. self-importance. Feels kinda like walking in spiked heels.

I served at my first funeral yesterday. It was a "nice" service, so far as a funeral can be, and the church was pretty full. I liked seeing so many there to support the family and share their grief. This was a doubly hard passing. The deceased was 38 years old, autistic and lived in a local group home. The family is very close and stayed very ( Read more... )

This was an interesting evening. First plus was that the new semester started tonight, and I have begun the second half of the systematic theology sequence. I got to see some people I am so fond of that I missed them terribly even for the few weeks we were off for this break.
