Work that is actually fun

Last night I drove to the home of a bride I'm helping. She is having her ceremony and reception at her mother's home, which is on a lovely farm in western Kentucky, about 45 minutes from where I live. It's going to be a challenge, but I'm so looking forward to it! What a great feeling to do a "job" that I choose, that I actually enjoy doing, ( Read more... )

S, I told him at lunch today. He was pleased. ;)

As for the wedding planning, yay me! I'm taking it veeeerrryyy slowly, so as to do it "right" and hopefully earn a good reputation.

How many weddings have you done now? When is this one? Do you have more on your plate to tackle this summer?

Well, since I've put myself "out there" as The Big Event!, this is the 3rd wedding. I brought everything to a screeching halt when all the drama happened with my sister about a year ago. But over the years, how many have I done? Hmmm...I've lost count. Most of them over the years were freebies for friends.

I do not have any more scheduled for this summer. I only recently decided to try to start it again. But I'm re-organizing without my sister involved. I'll keep the same d/b/a name but I'm going to start a new LLC - one without my sister.

This one is scheduled for June 18, and the bride knows I'll be gone end of May/early June. ;)

oh wait, I kind of do have something else scheduled for this summer. The law firm I work for will be having a reception/party of sorts when their newly remodeled offices open up for business. I won't get paid separately for that, of course. But it will go toward reputation-building! I'm excited about that event, as it will involve inviting lots of folks who host many events and have lots of money. *grin*

I think that's very smart. You obviously love what you're doing and I'm sure you're great at it as well. I'd love to see pics sometime of some of your events.

Oh-oh. Sister drama. That can never be good. (I could tell you stories ... lol)

Good luck with the new business, L! I'm rooting for us, er, you. *grin*

Yay! I'm so happy you're going forward with it even after your sister issues. I think careers/jobs should be something you're able to be excited about; congrats on finding that! Good luck with everything, and I second the request for pictures from the event. :)
