Very sad to learn about the passing of Alan Rickman this morning. Live journal was the first place to look after hearing the news. So a glimmer of a smile this morning when I saw I was not alone in this and that his passing brought so many of you back to LJ to post as well ( Read more... ) -

Snow in NYC
No, I'm not in NYC right now but the abundance of reports about it everywhere, even here on our local news, makes me feel like I'm there. We've hardly any snow to speak of this winter so I guess we shall live vicariously through others this year. Wasn't planning on it after the horrible experience with Iced but I happened upon some spoilers and OMG I am so not going near the series anymore. She has completely and utterly ruined everything I once loved about it.

My Grandma celebrated her 100th birthday this past Friday. This is not unprecedented as her mother lived to be 100. And in doing research about my ancestors I've determined that the majority of them lived into their 90s which rather surprised me as many of them lived through very hard times and I would have expected them to live shorter lives.
