Live Journal for Dummies?

Jan 09, 2005 14:21

You know, I've never considered myself a stupid person. But lately I think I must be falling into that category. I'm ashamed to say how long it took me to figure out how to post my very first journal entry. Even after my friend Gretchen emailed me with instructions, it took me a while. *sigh ( Read more... )

Oh look at you with your first LJ entry! Welcome to addiction! Somewhere down the line you will have to learn about the exciting world of user icons.

Do you want me to announce in my journal that you have a LJ so other DNs know you are here? Then they can friend you and you can friend them back.

I've never posted a journal entry by email so I'm no help with that. I've always done them in the journal. Responses to your entry should be emailed to you (if you checked that option) and you can then automatically reply to them via email.

Did you take the three down? I didn't put one up this year. I didn't want to go through what you are going through!

oh, isn't this fun? I saw that you replied when I checked my email. The email even gave me a box and a "post reply" button. Woo hoo! Hope this works.

Yes, please, "announce" me to the other DN's out there. That would be fun.

No, did not take the tree down. I was having too much fun resting on my sofa with the television remote and Henry. :D I'm such a procrastinator. Besides, Michael was gone, and no way am I letting him out of helping me. Ha! Smart you for not putting a tree up. I have been lobbying for a shorter tree for the last 2 years, but all my pleas fall on deaf ears. Besides, I think the girls would have a meltdown if we did not have our special 12-foot tree. *sigh*

Okay, when you think I'm ready, introduce me to "user icons." LOL

well, the "response from email" did not work. I had to open my journal and post my response. I'm thinking that's something only in paid accounts. Guess I need to upgrade now...

Hmmm, I was able to reply to posts via email before I got a paid account. You should be able to do it.

I will do a post to announce you in my journal.

I will tell you all about user icons in the near future but in the meantime I will just taunt you by using a different one everytime I respond *grin*

Well look at you with a journal! I'm so excited!

Welcome to the cult...lol.

Alex and I took down our Christmas tree last week - which is a shock since I normally have the energy to do so around Valentine's Day.

I'm off to friend you. Warning: I talk about a lot of Harry Potter fandom crap on my journal but then talk a great deal about Alex there as well. Oh, speaking of, I posted some Christmas Day photos of him here if you want to take a peek.

And let me know what you want icons of and I'll give it a go. I can't animate anything (software is way too expensive) but I can do smashing good stills. I've done them for Shan, Karen, Drea and Gretchen.

Oh, and one last thing - Jennie got a journal yesterday! Squee!
