moving forward, even when I'm looking backward

Don't know if anyone is even still here, but this is mostly for me anyway, so here goes.....

Recap of the last couple of years:
.
August 8, 2013 My mom couldn't fight the disease anymore, and the battle ended. It was a long, painful ordeal, and I can only hope that she knows how much she was loved, and how big of a hole she left behind ( Read more... )

Thank you. So what's been going on with you and your family? I've been gone so long I'm totally out of the loop.

A lot has happened in the time you were absent.

My eldest son got married October 2013 and my husband died 5 days later. That put me in a real funk for the next few months as we had been together for 40 years. I also had to look for work and was mostly unsuccessful at that, I'd not worked since getting married.

I've ended up on long term sick after last winter made my leg problems worse and I'm currently trying to deal with chronic pain that persists even on the top dose of painkillers.

I am also looking forward to my middle son getting married this coming October. Where as my second eldest is trying to give me a heart attack by travelling all over the place and going places he shouldn't (last week he ended up in North Korea!!)

My youngest son is back living with me and the daughter is still living in Newport with her hubby. Now if only one of them would just give me a grandchild to spoil I would be ecstatic :D

Oh my! Congrats on the son getting married, and the upcoming marriage of middle son. My sincerest condolences on the loss of Pirate, I can not even fathom how you cope with that, and then a chronic pain situation on top of it. Hugs and more hugs, but of the most gentle sort.

Yes, I definitely think one of your children should present you with a grandchild to spoil. After all, that is our reward, as parents, for letting them reach adulthood.

Well, I'm glad you are still here on LJ, look forward to getting back in the swing of things, and knowing that some friends are still here will make it easier.

I was so happy to see your post! I sure have missed you. :)

My deepest condolences about your mother. I am so sorry for your loss.

You have made me want to get to baking again. I find it calming sometimes.

Please don't be a stranger!

HUGS

Thank you, it's good to be back. I've missed this place and the friends I found here. You're right, baking is calming, especially when you're slapping the bread dough around...it's a great release :-)

The loss is there, and always will be, but I hold to the positives, and am thankful for the time I had with her.

Don't get me wrong, Facebook has it's place and I still enjoy it, but I prefer the intimacy of Live Journal. I miss all the people on my friends list. Hopefully they will come back like you!

OK now that's just downright scary...when I was explaining LJ and FB to the husband, that was almost exactly the description I was using....GMTA ?
