I've never had a pop-up ever since I started using Mozilla Firebird. Also gives me more available screen for surfing than any of the other browsers. It's free too :) I'll end this advertisement for Mozilla Firebird by saying, www.mozilla.org for more details LOL

For me, I use Spybots - Search and Destroy for removing spyware, adware, etc ... It works really well, and has an Immunize feature that stops stuff from even getting on the computer. It also makes use of dummy files so that if there is some piece of software you have to use that has spy or adware, it pretends to give info out.

Hope this helps,
Krunchy

This isn't a Microsoft 'hole', really. It's really a feature that has legitimate use that unfortunately spammers and other nefarious types are taking advantage of. Sad, really...

i use Ad-aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, the new Google Toolbar (has a popup stopper) and my usual firewall software. Thankfully, I haven't had any problems on my machine.
