Ooh, interesting! That's why I like this meme. You can learn a little bit more.

I think family drama is a genre. I used to think I wanted to write sci fi, because I was in the Stargate fandom so long, but then I realized that the sci fi wasn't what interested me about SG-1 anyway. I'm much more interested in human relationships, especially contemporary people and life. Typical people in very atypical situations. And while sci fi is FULL of books that explore these things in fantastic worlds, I'd rather explore them in our own world.

I think the best sci-fi is really the stuff that is character centered -- where you fall in love so much with the characters that you are willing to go with them on these outlandish and impossible journey's; where the sci-fi of it all is really secondary to the human (or technically maybe even non-human in this instance) relationships. Its sad a little because a genre sci-fi in many ways is still a little looked down on, but with TV I really think Sci-fi shows have some of the best character growth and development.

I also like studying religion because it's fascinating to me. I find it to be a necessary evil in our society. Mostly because MOST people need it in order to keep them in line. Otherwise all it does is create strife and misery.
