In which our heroine learns she is NOT actually indestructible

Monday was shofixti's birthday. To mark this momentous occasion, I decided to use my precious kid-free time (while he was at school) to go to his apartment and scrub his bathtub. I know, it's an odd choice of gift, but it's definitely something only I would give him. Personalized ( Read more... )

Eeep! But also cautiously optimistic that the doctor is right and it will all settle down by the weekend.

Please let me know if there's something I can do to help out on Thursday. Maybe bring some sort of takeout for dinner? I can try to come by early (like around 6:30).

oi!

Well, think of it this way. If you don't stop the contractions, you... might get a premie. That will SUCK OUT LOUD so much worse. So my vote is to stay put and trade hopefully a few days or weeks of suck instead of the alternative!

Because I'm horrible that way :/

Your point is well taken. Bedrest sounds boring as crap, but a preemie is five or six years of trying to catch up, at least. Not to mention the stress on the family of simply going through that instead of a normal, life affirming birth.

So yeah. I will be good. Even if I feel like kind of a wimp. :)

yay!

Mostly I say it because my nieces were very nearly born at 29 weeks - it was super scary. And some other folks I know had a 27 week premie birth. I would not want that for you!

That is the most horrifying thing I have ever heard. Please, PLEASE do a follow up with your doctor in a few weeks just to be safe.

I promise I'm being very careful... now. :)

I've seen my doctor twice this week, and I have an appointment on the 14th for a follow-up. Trust me, she's not going to let me get away with anything at this point, she's figured out that I'm prone to illusions of grandeur.
