I just realized something. I noticed it when I went back to my Oxford. Everyone else here... Their daemons are inside of them. It seems odd that back in my world, people would think they were all monsters, but here, it's not normal to have your soul outside your body. I guess that makes me special, in a way. I dunno. I like the daytime mostly, especially the afternoons. I dunno why, I just like it then.

Democracy. One person may be a good leader, but what if their kid's a real monster? I guess some people say most people are to stupid, or to wicked, and need someone else to lead them, but that's stupid. People can be wicked, but they can also be kind and loving and creative. Oxford. Jordan College is my home, or the closest thing I've ever had. It's where I've spent most of my life, and it's one place I know I belong. The last two make the most sense... Why are these so popular?

I haven't gotten many gifts, but I suppose the oddest one would be the alethiometer. The master of Jordan College gave it to me, right before I left with my mother Ms. Coulter. It's a symbol reader, and if I focus just so, I can ask it questions, and it gives me answers. I'm the only one who can read it so easily to; anyone else has to spend years ( Read more... )
