Lyra stood on top of the hill next to Kitt, her dirty blond hair disheveled from the walk up. Her eyes were fixed on a large patch of forest that loomed up, dark and intimidating. It will be a tight squeeze for me, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

I will admit I can't scan that far into the forest, though. Are you sure about this?

I think I'd rather walk. It's not that far, and I don't think there's anything to dangerous in there. I bet there's something really interesting though.

*grins, and starts running down the hill, Pantalaimon following at her heels*

I wonder where your friend Zephyr is, I bet he'd have fun.

Lyra stopped as the pair reached an invisible line. On one side, there was grassland, swaying softly in the wind, and dotted by an occasional tree. On the other side were trees, larger than any Lyra had ever seen, with gray brown trunks covered with green moss. The grass on the other side of the line was different to. On the side Lyra was standing on, the grass was longer, and a bright shade of golden green. The grass that grew beneath the trees was shorter, and seemed to be tinted blue and silver. Pantalaimon trembled slightly, and Lyra felt his apprehension, but both girl and daemon were curious about what lay within the shadows of those ancient trees.

"Well," Lyra said, "let's go." And with that, she stepped across the invisible line, and waited for Kitt and Pan to follow her.
