[one hundred two] LJ Idol Week 1- Empty Gestures

Oct 15, 2009 21:27

For the longest time I didn’t believe in love. It was this broken concept- people “fall in love” and then in the end just…give up? I told myself I would never give up when I found that true love, if it even existed. I’d give and I’d give, but I’d never let go. I’d give it my all.

Unfortunately, life doesn’t always go the way things plan. My parent ( Read more... )

That is a crushing heart breaking story. I appreciated hearing it in your own actual voice, but I more just appreciated your tenacity.

Although, you know... as a guy here... who sees jerks like this get wonderful girls who then abuse them (and no matter how you say it... not getting HIT was not LUCKY!) and turn that abuse on them.

I'm glad you were strong to get out though and I can even understand still loving them for the good sides that must exist, but I'm betting you'd be hard pressed to explain them. Non?

He's a wonderful person, with not so wonderful habits. He's my best friend. WE understand each other, and I can't and won't explain why he did what he did, but I know now that he's changing for himself, and so the way I see it, is I see the effort he's putting into it, and that means a lot to me. Do I forgive him, yes. Will I ever forget? No.

I've been there, too. I was essentially dumped for "Mary Jane", if you know what I mean.

It sucks. And it does seem like every bit of "I love you" is empty and meaningless when it's clear that they love the drugs more. :(

Thats how I feel. Priorities are a big part of the relationship, and when I rank lower than an illegal substance? I'm sorry but I don't approve of that. Unfortunately, I lost sight of that for a long time.

I'm glad that you got everything that you could out of this experience and choose to accept it as it is.

It's a hard lesson to learn isn't it? *sighs* *hugs*

I wrote about something similar. Seems that empty gestures and failing romantic relationships sometimes go hand-in-hand.

It is, mainly because a lot of people choose to not accept the fact that it is that way, and ignore the signs of a bad relationship.

I think empty has a negative connotation, and, unfortunately, so do relationships sometimes as well.
