My Cat II: Conclusion

I spoke with my neighbor about the cat, mentioned that I had started feeding her and that I would be happy to find a good home for her. He said that he wanted to wait until his wife and two year old daughter got home from a vacation, because they were going to see how much their daughter missed the cat and potentially start feeding her again

Wait a minute. His wife and daughter went on vacation, he thinks the daughter might want the cat, so he stops feeding it? Buh-what?

Yeah, pretty screwed up. I don't know... I think these people just treat their animals a lot more casually than I would/do. Otherwise, they're very nice people, but this whole situation just kinda drives me crazy.

I did talk to the guy last night, and he was really happy that the cat and owner had been reunited. I was relieved that he didn't feel like I stole their cat or anything, but I also just wanted to ask why they never thought to check the microchip or make sure the cat was fixed or anything else.
