I have a new job! This is a position as Webmaster for the JPAC POW/MIA Accounting Command. The mission of the command is really fantastic. Even as I lean a little towards pacifism after having served six years in the military, it's something I can whole-heartedly support. Generally: Be forthright and honest about why you're going. Offer to stay another two weeks.

i second this.

when i left my lawyer job, i thanked my boss for the opportunity, but told him that the work really wasn't for me, and that i was willing to work so we could transition to him taking over my cases. there were no hard feelings because i was honest and forthright.

i mean, people understand that things don't work out sometimes. better that you tell them now in an honest way than let it wait. :)

and, yes, 2 weeks notice is a good thing to give, although since you've been there for such a short period of time, they may say it's ok if you just leave for your new job...
