I'm kinda getting the feel that she'll tap McCain. It's a move that will appeal to a wider range of voters, and it's never too early to start thinking about re-election.
I think I just made myself vomit a little.
I'll definitely be keeping a closer eye on her speeches though. Hopefully I'm being silly and this is not the start of a trend.
That. Is definitely a comfort. I'm still worried because the two of them are SO combative and I think they're getting some serious bad blood between them (although I suppose it might not be *literally* between them, but more between their staunch supporters).
Hopefully the rhetoric will tone down a bit now that they both realize how divided the party is.
The only people crazier than Ron Paul are some of his supporters. And most of them seem to be thoroughly obnoxious, as well. That said, a very good friend of mine is a Ron Paul delegate for the county Republican convention (I think she's mostly subversive and contrary - but she has a born-in-Russia distrust of democrats (yes, most of the russians I know distrust the democrats - I suppose because they've been conditioned to believe that the only people you can trust are the people whom you know you can trust to be shithead.))
Obnoxious yes, and scary devoted. They're insidious!
Honestly, I can't *get* Ron Paul. He actually shares some of my stances on issues, but he holds his stance for all the wrong reasons. Of course, I think that about a lot of libertarians.
I think your friend might have the right idea (in a realist and vaguely disheartening way).
It's one thing to adore Ron Paul, but there are Paultards who take it to a whole 'nother level. It's downright worship for some of them, and I've been in debate forums where a few have said I'm "riddled with misplaced white guilt" (lol crazypants) because I wasn't sure who I was voting for, but I knew it wasn't going to be Ron.
I do like his stance on Iraq. Sort of. But where ultimately we're agreed that we need to pull out, he seems to want it out of some sort of nationalism, which I find a bit ew.
Although honestly, the Obama supporters have a huge asshat contingency of their own, so I can't rag on Ron Paul alone.

Maybe she'll be smart, and choose Obama as her VP.

I'm glad the van left him behind.
