Happy Aussie bookday!

Nov 01, 2005 09:06

So today the book is coming out in Australia, as I understand it, so I thought I'd catch y'all up on what we know from the British release: it does seem to be in major chain bookstores, but fewer than ten copies (sometimes five or less) at each store. They do seem to be stocking it in the film/entertainment section rather than the humor, also.

So i can request a bookplate long before I ever manage to get the book, right? Since I'm right "next door", statewise, and all. ^_^

I do say in that entry that you can request one whether you have the book yet or not. : )

Even if we couldn't, you really have no way of knowing otherwise...right?

*is now paranoid you've planted secret homing devices in each of the books* ;P

elanorkat and I went up and down Charing Cross Road yesterday checking out your book. Blackwells had 5, stocked in 'Film', Borders had 5 (but look as if they had had six and one had been sold!) on their 'New Titles' table, but Foyles were the Champions - they had FIFTEEN! - filed in 3 different places - 'Film', 'Genre' and 'Best Sellers'!

elanorkat took photos of all the bookstacks and she's going to send you the photos so you can get an idea of the book in context.

BEST SELLERS EEEE!!!

(The reason "best seller" is so great, beyond the obvious cause for celebration, is that it's a self-perpetuating thing--people see the book and go, "A lot of people like this, huh? Hmmm...")

For those in the US wondering about when/where we can get their copy... I've ordered from Amazon UK in the past and I've never had any trouble with their service. I've ordered all of my Harry Potter books from them and noticed no difference from the service on the US Amazon site. The only difference being shipping time, but it's coming from overseas, so that really goes without saying. Shipping prices are very fair, just watch out for the exchange rate. Double the price they list in pounds and that's about what you'll be paying for the item. I can't remember if I had to create a different account when I first ordered from them or not. I think I just used my US Amazon log-in information, but if I did have to create a new account it didn't take long. I hope I'm not posting old information, but I thought this might help out those of us in the US who wanted the book yesterday. (:

Ah you never know, some people might be anal about the spelling. "What's with all there extra 'U's? I'M SO CONFUSED!" ;D

And no, you don't have to create a new account. Just sign in with your US Amazon login. The only thing that won't carry over is your wishlist, seeing as they have different products and prices on the .co.uk site.

Hi, I was wondering whether your book will be released in Asia? Australia is the closest we've got. XD

Excellent question. I'm an Aussie living in Asia...if I were in Australia I would soooo be tracking your book down and buying it, but I can't do that til Christmastime, so if it was coming out anywhere here I won't have to wait. :)
